I played it but like, is it just because he is the fiercest warrior of hell, just as doomguy is the one from Earth? is that it?
Codex in part 1 states that The Dark Lord can only be killed by ANOTHER primeval. Davoth is a primeval, and so is the Slayer, so they look alike. That is basically it. As to which entity "decides" who a world's primeval is, Hugo left that question open and was not willing to answer.
It's probably something above Davoth pulling those strings. Seems probable since we now know the Mysterious Voice at the end of Urdak is meant to imply there is a being beyond Davoth who is watching over everything, that voice was never meant to be the Dark Lord despite the bugged subtitle name.
When The Father ripped out davoth's soul into a lifesphere, maybe - the body that was left to fall became doom guy? After all they are supposed to be pretty much the same person to some degree.
Or doomguy is simply made by davoth to look like him, after all - once you kill him - the father does mention that davoth created you aswell as you start fainting.
but that would mean that the first doom games could be staged from "heaven" to lure out the dark lord so the doom guy can kill him or am i wrong there?
If by heaven you mean Urdak I don't think so though. The maykrs post-father didn't even know hell existed until the Doom Marine dragged demons to Sentinel Prime with him. The main thing being orchestrated is Davoth getting Doomguy into the machine, because he knows he's a primeval that can be given that power and wants him to be the weapon that will destroy Urdak. All of that actually came to fruition, but in the end the Slayer confronted Davoth directly to decide whether Earth or Immora will fall and Davoth really just had a huge skill issue.
Getting into classic Doom with TAG lore gets even more confusing, because it all implies Doomguy existing to begin with wasn't random and opens up a gazillion questions, but when it comes down to it I just assume Doomguy followed his own path all the way up to finding the Sentinels.
I think it would had been better if the Dark Lord was a Baron Hell that changed into the most powerful creature at the time.
The final fight would had been better laid out like this:
Dark Lord presents it self as a badder version of the Armored Baron.
Switches to a big ass Blood Makyr that is just like the Khan Makyr.
Switches to a big Archvile that summons demons.
Ultimately acknowledges the Doom Marine as his equal and becomes a copy that fights like a Marauder.
End of fight.
That said we all know Id had to wrap it up and even Hugo was not all too happy with it, personally I really enjoyed Reclaimed Earth and World Spear is huuge, so it is okay.
And there should’ve been an out-of-mech stage. But that goes without saying.
if what you say is right it could be too that father made earth as the seal of davoth and doom guy as its warden. so that if the doom guy gets killed davoth gets released. but somehow he still got out and because of that heaven trained doom guy, for him to be a match for davoth because only doom guy were the only one who was capable of defeating him but heaven somehow tried using the creatures of hell to harvest human energy, like the humans tried to harvest hells energy. samuel (who gave the doom guy his power, because in a cutscene you clearly hear that the guy putting doom guy in the machine is in fact samuel hayden) who knows the true purpose of earth and doom guy couldnt let it happen that both is destroyed, gave him his powers and sent him away so he can get stronger and some day defeat or re-seal davoth.
Poor writing.
