who the hell coded this crap? RTX 3070 w/ driver version 471.11 here, game runs worse when DLSS is on(any setting) than when it is off. Bravo Quality Control, Bravo.

My Laptop does Ray Tracing just fine in this game.

Hello, acer nitro 5 with a laptop rtx 3060 6gb can't click option on or off, stays in off, but can select dlss just fine, and it's weird bc can do other games with ray tracing just fine.

Hmm, I wonder what the CVAR to enable or disable ray tracing is in the game's config files. If a configuration edit actually makes it work, it's not Nvidia's fault - it's id Software's for not identifying hardware. If the configuration edit DOESN'T work then it's MAYBE Nvidia's fault since Doom Eternal cannot or may not recognize Nvidia's RTX 3060 as a ray tracing card, and that could be anyone's fault.

Seeing as how ray tracing works on Metro Exodus, Minecraft, and RE Village on my 3060 lapop, it's more likely the issue is with Doom Eternal than it is with Nvidia. If Nvidia's driver broke things, RT would be globally affected rather than ONE game having this isolated issue. I'm sure id Software can rectify the issue.

To be honest, I'm more impressed by DLSS.

I just found another thread about this same topic on the LTT forums that has some new theories. Here's the link if anyone's interested:

Have you gone into windows and NVCP power management and selected max performance?
Not in windows itself. My laptop has a performance mode that boosts everything to max, but I will try your suggestion.

I have all settings maxed, including raytracing and DLSS on quality, 100-144 fps

also laptop, MSI GP66 leopard, 3070 i7 11800h.

i think it can be the issue with not having mux switch, try to hook ur laptop with external screen via HDMI, see if that option turns on or not.

On another thread on the same topic people tried reinstalling older GeForce drivers (46x) and then they could enable RTX and DLSS was giving decent framerates. Not the first time an nVidia driver dedicated to a particular game screws up that particular game. (For my part, I'm going to wait for the next driver update.)

I actually thought that as well. Well it didnt work. Im assuming either bad driver, or just the game. no idea.

Wileybear2, I have the same card. I did a clean installation of driver version 465.89. Doom Eternal will tell you you need to update the driver, but will allow you to play.

The current driver version is bugged and Nvidia is aware of the issue. The current workaround is the tried and true method of rolling back. :Mancubus:

works fine on my 3080. the latest drivers where giving me serious problems for some reason though. so i went back to 466.77 not sure why they say you need the latest drivers to get rtx to work on this game . it works just fine .
