Was fun and challenging. A bit more chill than SGN ML. And i liked the evil traps in some sections. Reminded me of plutonia.
It surprised me multiple times with things I did no expect and some rooms were quite challenging.
There are multiple sections in SGN ML that annoy me quite a lot, but I had a blast playing this one. It's easily my favorite ML (haven't played Cultist Base though)
the art direction is glorious, but the level design itself is awful
the master level seems to make it worth playin', though. so far, at least. i haven't gotten past the big arena where the archvile is introduced in the base campaign, so there's still potential for it to suck big time
Wait until you get to the room where you get the medallion for the Crucible and after that...It's horribly designed level.
Got any better ideas for an encounter that is supposed to push you to your limits? In either case, the harder Doom maps are meant to troll the player at a meta level, has been the case since OG Doom.
Besides, they're master levels. That's the one place in the game where the gloves are off and the devs don't need to hide their desire to kill you as much.
The Slayer still has high-dps combos that melt literally any demon in the game in 5 seconds or less; if you got those down it doesn't matter how many tyrants there are in a small space.
On top of combos, you have a million ways to stun everything around you: ice bomb, grenade, blood punch, remote det, shield bash (which gives you godmode I might add), etc. If you don't use combos, or your grenades, or your punches, or your icebombs, or literally anything designed to deal with getting ganged up on, you're going to have trouble in those rooms.
You have a kit that gives you the tools to deal with literally anything, if you act like you don't these levels (and mods) are going to kill you off over and over.
