As for the DOOG thing, Korone herself used a version of the logo in the easter egg in her streams. That makes who actually owns that parody logo a bit tenuous and it's a not a fight that either Bethesda/id or Hololive want to get involved in so removing it is probably the simplest solution (even if I also think it's a bit silly.)

Its rumored that the higher ups at Bethesda were like "delete this easter egg, now" and they had no choice but to do it. The markiplier easter egg seems to be kinda personal so imagine the storm that would come as a result of removing it.

#1 - it's an assault on the IP (they are diluting the brand and more importantly the most recognizable part of the franchise)

#2 - it opens up potential for other brands to mis-use the IP

#3 - no mention of an official crossover, so they open themselves to litigation from DOOG

#4 - No actually masculine, self respecting Slayer would actually admit to wanting to be connected to that nigh animeporno ♥♥♥♥♥ anyway. get it off my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

Third. There was no offical mention of crossover with Markiplier as a person or of the other easter eggs in this game so what nonsense are you spouting.

You have to put it into context; Outside of DOOM Bethesda has lost a lot of faith recently, and plus there is all of the additional framing. We have one jackass on this thread here saying good-riddance to the 'animeporn'... a particularly dumb description given anyone who is familiar with Korone's content or, you know, actual porn. The patch notes state 'the egg will live on in infamy'... what infamy? Honestly, the fact that the easter egg is so small and dumb kind of makes it worse, it was harmless, so why take it out, wheres the infamy? Doesn't take too strong of an imagination to interpret the removal as implying Korone/Vtubers are somehow intrinsically unacceptable somehow.

In other words, a lot of folks are seeing this as just one more case of a AAA games company placating moral gatekeepers, and I'm not really sure they're wrong. Combine with the common belief that placating those kind of busy-bodies is how we got to the current highly divided state of media & politics... and that's why people react so strongly to taking out the easter egg. It's not about the egg itself, it's about what that action symbolizes in the greater social context.

Of course, the 'defend the waifu' element also helps ;).

Plus, can you imagine how many people Korone & other Vtubers have gotten interested in the game? Now imagine one of those converts finding out they removed the DOOG reference... I can imagine one of those folks doing a hard pass on actually shelling out cash at that point. The really sad part is that Korone & Hana Machia's streams were the best antidote to the negative stereotype that the ID franchises are only for 'toxic male gamers' :(

I agree. I love Korone, watched her playthrough of Doom and would love to see her play Doom Eternal. I can see and hear her happy laugh of trying out the easter egg had it been in. But no, Coroprate got involved. Youre 120% right its the action not the easter egg itself thats the issue. i WAS going to buy this DLC because i love doom. But i care about Korone more, and seeing how they slammed her with this action like this? No thanks. If a company's actions show they have no problem removing something that has no bearing on the game because someone is a fan but then was told to remove it? That shows what kind of corporation Bethesda and iD software higher ups are. And i will not support that. Yeah im not Buying this. WAS, but now im not. Might reconsider if they give a good enough reason but i doubt it will suffice. Bethesda never does. Its not about the Easter Egg itself. Its the reason they removed it. Its a harmless, fun easter egg and a shout out to a Vtuber who enjoyed the ever living HELL out of it. And this is what she gets? A punch in the face? Was tweeted by them and Mick Gordon WHILE she was playing it and someone decided to add in a fun easter egg for her. Thats where it should have stopped.

On the topic of Markipliers easter egg. Thats a very nice thing they did for him and for his dad. Its literally the same thing, a personal, respectful nod and shout out to the two. I love Markiplier as well as Korone and i can for sh*t sure say he would be annoyed at this revelation too. iD software or Bethesda, whoever made the decision to remove is a dumbass from both a business stand point and a personal one. So good job team. Ill keep my 20 and put it to something else. Ill go as far as never buying a iD soft ware game again over this because i care about Korone and whats shes done for many people that much.
