I proved you wrong, if you don't counter argument then I guess you know what that means... With Darksiders you only adresse Urdak on top of that. Tell me how BL3 is less or as much generic as DE when taking into account what I said earlier...

Then saying Doom Eternal is not award material when comparing one of its environment to Darksiders artstyle is kind of a little COMPLETELY dishonest... Especially when every other level are pretty much as inventive. Even Hell is something I've never seen in any game before done like that (it does fit descriptions I've seen in books and the swamps look almost straight out of a Lovecraft story). Sure the fiery lava eternally damned has been done. But not like that and not to that degree with the chained demon at the beginning, the two titans holding a tower of highly advanced technology above the bloody quagmire that is the rest of Hell with the heavily mechanical contraptions reminiscent of orcs in both Tolkien and Warhammer lores, albeit a bit more industrial. And that's just one of the levels, and not even the most innovative one.

Considering one of the past winners for best artstyle were cuphead, Return of Obra and control i don't see how doom eternal would even be compared to those, and even then doom eternal copies the art style of the older game, meaning it's not a new of unique artstyle it's just copying one that the series already had

Do you even comprehend what art styles entails ? It's not only the rendering style. Cuphead it's very well deserved, Return of the Obra Dinn ? Not so much. Just another monochrome lowres game. There ain't exactly a shortage of those among indies. Control is not deserved at all. Average looking industrial/building levels mostly and rendered with a generic PBR shader. Art direction is not at all about the rendering style. Cuphead deserves it because they did a very good job of reminding of old cartoons. What did Obra Dinn do besides a very easy pixelate + monochromatic post process shader ? And what did Control do at all ?

Doom Eternal while using a pretty generic PBR shader uses Megatextures to make environments that look quite good even from up-close (perhaps not Quixel Megascans good but frankly not that far) and does it while creating pretty inventive places too look at, sometimes in the core design and colors, sometimes more in the "represenation" (think Mars Core that is broken, creating a panorama that is a pretty interesting sight and ending in hidden ruins in the core with Lava flowing up because of the broken gravity.

Also, copies the style of older Doom ? Aside from the fact you do interact once or twice with a fiery and gory hell and with technologic places, how is the artstyle copied ? This seems to tell me you don't understand what artstyle and art direction mean in the first place.

damn i even prefer that cartoony and comic style of Borderlands than the one of TLOU, and more since it has diverse places to go and see, but well they prefer the same post-apocalyptic world as the last game with more 'realistic' graphics
If it's done right it can be effective i doubt anyone will say the first season of telltale's walking dead game still isn't a masterpiece gaming story

soo your point is...? I mean if it was the first TLOU i would be ok since it's something that we already saw in movies but not to much in videogames, but the sequel been nominated for art direction is a little strange, because compared to eternal or borderlands the art style has noticeable changes and new things to make it better, while TLOU2 is the same as the last game, same characters and zombies, same landscapes and levels (Snow forest, Buildings and streets covered on plants,etc) with only a graphical update nothing more.

So that's why i see it as a bald nominee since they are other games that can take their place for actually have a better and not so generic art. (it's like nominee cod cold war or modern warfare for been realistic too and have a recreation of a 'real place' nothing more to highlight)

oh and for you last comment, it's like saying the same for Half life Alyx since "it's just copying one that the series already had" right? but at least the do the great work like eternal of enhance their previous designs and make it something really nice to see and fight, compared to TLOU2 at least the nominee for Alyx is valid.

Honestly when i made that comment i thought they were talking about how the tlou2 was nomated for game of the year, as for artstyle... i'm sense a red dead redemption 2 kinda thing, look i love red dead redemption 2, but it did not deserve to be nomainated for best music and art direction
