Gas refills. Don't chainsaw the big guys, just fodder. You should be fine then. Also, use all your guns.
edit: and don't wait until you're out of ammo before you chainsaw. Just make a habit of chainsawing regularly. When it has refilled to one charge use it. The same goes for flame belch. Use it all the time.

It was the area where both Marauder and Archvile are and I always ran out of ammo.
While collecting extra lives I found some secrets also to make me stronger.
I did hade the jumping in the game but I like them very much now it´s fun when it start to click
Have fun in Urdak :)
Extra Lives are a great thing to get through the game without too much frustration, on your first and maybe second playthrough. In the long run - if you are interested to play more and get better - you should skip them. You won't really learn the game if nothing has consequences and I think, if necessary, lowering the difficulty is more beneficial to learning than extra lives. And remember: if you die a few times in a section, you always can take advantage of the sentinel armor.
I think I played twice the regular campaign with extra lives, then extra life mode to see if I can manage. Then I skipped them entirely and that definitely helped me mastering the game.
Also I found myself to be more frustrated of losing an extra life than actually dying. Dying at least gives you the opportunity to try again and get the satisfaction of finally beating the f***ing section that gave you so much trouble.
At first yes. But you can learn how to deal with him.
