I think the point is that the concept of deities and demons have been more or less blurred in Doom. With the technopunk aesthetic the demons had even in the original it makes sense for them to make these links.
Theres still plenty of space magic involved with the Maykrs, at least as much as there is with the demons.
The Father, and the supposed ancient gods may be actual divine beings or creators, we'll have to see.
Or maybe you can? The concept of heaven and hell in Doom is clearly not based 100% off the man-made interpretations we have in the real world. If you were early man, and saw these beings, you're not going to know the difference between magic or just really advanced tech, and other details would get lost or misinterrupted.
Maybe nothing is divine, everything is just much older and evolved than mankind, makyrs and hell were perhaps at the top of the chain.
