The game is not launching and I cannot fix it!

I have been having an issue with Doom Eternal for the past 3 weeks. Doom Eternal has not been launching at all!

I didn't play the game for a while after the second big update came out, and the first time I try to play it after the update I have not been able to play since it doesn't launch. All that happens is the idTechLauncher will appear in my "hidden icons" menu, but the game itself will not launch. Despite this, the Steam library still act as if the game is running. If I try to end the game's process by clicking the "STOP" button in the Steam library, it won't do anything. I have to exit Steam and then go into the task manager to end the idTechLauncher in order for the game to actually "stop" even though it never launched to begin with.

I have tried virtually everything to fix this problem. Turning off any overlays, updating and/or reinstalling video drivers, rolling back video drivers, updating windows to the latest version, verifying integrity of the game cache, reinstalling the game, giving admin privilege to the game and/or idTechLauncher executables in the game files, reinstalling DirectX, reinstalling that Vulkan thing, I even updated my ♥♥♥♥ing BIOS (something I have never done before and is incredibly risky if you don't know what you are doing as it could brick your system), all to no avail.

I have contacted Bethesda customer support and they were completely useless and just copy pasted the crap that was on their FAQ page even though I explained to them that nothing they suggested was working. And Steam has refused to give me a refund since I already put in about 85 hours before the game got ♥♥♥♥ed. The additional 5+ hours you see on my page now was literally just from me trying to fix the game.

Does anyone, ANYONE, have any suggestions on how to get this fixed, or am I going to have to wait for the next update in the vein hope that maybe it will solve this problem.

I know it's frustrating, but bawling people out and calling them "whiny water heads" isn't going to get people scrambling to help you out. Just sayin' bro.

I don't really care if I upset people at this point. I paid 80$, the least it can do is run, and for my issue to get overlooked by people who don't like the game to begin with pisses me off.

Maybe you need to wait for it to load, just like I am playing the "Batman arkham Knight" game, I need to wait for 1 to 2 minutes to start the game.
Different performance will have different loading time.
I just watched your video GTX760, you may need to upgrade your computer...

... That video is from 2013, and no, the game is not loading. I left it "loading" for over 40 minutes and it never loaded up, even if it did, that's a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a game to load.

My current setup is a GTX 1070, i7-7700 @ 3.6Ghz, 16 Gigs of ram, and the game is installed on a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSD. Installing to other drives did not solve the problem btw.

The possibility I found from the Internet is to change the power option to high performance.
Or check whether the installation path is in English.
If it is because the screen is frozen ctrl+alt+delete>esc>Click on the game picture below to re-enter the game.

im having the same exact issue. and i have also tried everything to no avail. nothing is frozen or not working except doom is not launching and it cycles from stop to play within steam about as fast as i click play.

that would work if it showed up as an actual task. other than the id sofware icon in the hidden icon menu on the task bar literally nothing is happening.

Still having issues as well with getting anywhere beyond the main menu after the newest updates. None of my saves will load without CTD and even starting a brand new game on a fresh save is not working.

Same issue here, I guess. When I start the game, nothing happens. Just for few seconds steam says that I play (or try to play) DE, then it turns back to normal online mode and says I have no game running.

been having this issue for several months now. says im playing for 3 to 5 seconds then switches status to not running anything. id software launcher appears in task bar for each launch attempt then they dissapear when i attempt to click on them. nothing i have tried has helped.

since there is no fix for this and the developers do not care (as long as they make enough money with us) - I requested a refund.
