What Doom Guy lost?.... (spoilers)
So, on Sentinel Prime as you make your way to the Gladiator, the Khan Makyr appears, and offers to return to him what the demons took from him if he will turn back. Now, I'm no Doom lore buff by any means, but from what I understand, he was just a marine who got caught up in it all, kinda snapped and is obsessed with killing demons.... what exactly could the Khan Makyr give back to him? His sanity lol?

If I'm not mistaken, during the events of Doom and/or Doom 2, Doomguy loses his pet rabbit to demons. I believe that's what the Khan refers to.

could be his family and his rabbit

She means his family and his rabbit, or his old universe in general.

It is never established that Doomguy has any family besides his dead rabbit, Daisy -- who was an early casualty of Hell on Earth.
I like to imagine doom guys endless fury and hatred for demon kind inspiring him to endlessly crusade until the extinction of all demon life was caused by them killing his pet rabbit that one time.

There’s a photo of him and his family on the fortress of doom, though he tore his own face out of it.

Unused Khan Makyr lines (which got changed in the final game to be more vague) also refer to a family he once had back when he lived in the 7th dimension, where the OG games took place.

his universe.
his rabbit and family (at least his parents and brothers or sisters).
his sentinel comrades and friends.
damn he lost a lot.

I'm sure we'll probably find out in DLC, but it does seem similar to the sort of offer the Betrayer made with Hell regarding his son.

Had no idea he had a family either, and I seriously doubt someone would go this John Wick over a rabbit.

The only issue I see with doomguy having a family (or a kid at least) is that he's canonically a virgin according to John Carmack. But that statement was made in 1996, and Carmack left ID a while ago, so it could have easily been forgotten.

It's the rabbit, even has a photo of him posing with one in his quarters.

To be honest, I hope they dont tell us why the Slayer hates Hell and the demons so much. The ambiguity of something pushing him over the edge is much cooler than actually knowing what that is. Because you just know someone will be like "it's so unbelievable that made him lose it," or some other mind vomit argument.

That or it actually just being because of the rabbit. But didnt the rabbit die at the end of Doom 2?
