Can't play offline, how do I fix this?

Yesterday I lost internet connection, of course the first game I thought to play was Doom Eternal! However every time I tried to start the game it said I needed to go online to play. How can I fix this?

that's odd. Did you have an update in progress or something ? It shouldn't force you to go online.

Don't think you can launch games while their files are being updated.

did u have lost the connection while steam was running?
to play offline u need to switch steam to offline mode...
if the steam client lose the connection while its running it doesnt switch automatically... instead it will keep trying to reconnect till it can connect again. u have to switch it to offline mode manually

I did switch to offline mode after the internet went out.

Have you played it all yet? The very first time I started the game, I needed to be connected to the internet. After that I was able to play in offline mode.

I did switch to offline mode after the internet went out.

then it should start without the need to login and any connection at all...
are u sure u switched steam to offline mode? have u tried to restart steam in offline mode instead of just to switch?
