GPU driver update warning is annoying
Years ago, I kept my graphics and audio hardware drivers up-to-date as much as possible, but at some point, I noticed some older games weren't performing as well as they used to. Long story short, my GPU driver was the culprit. I did a clean install of an older GPU driver and games that had lost performance were running smoother again. So I stopped needlessly updating hardware drivers.

Then I fired up DE on Mar. 20. Low Lo and behold, I could not play without updating my Geforce driver, so I did. Then patch 1.0 came, and again, another required driver update, except it let's me play without updating. Ok, but the getting the same warning EVERY TIME I launch the game is getting on my nerves. C'mon id, at least give me an option to "don't show this message again".

You can actually disable this warning by changing a config file. You didn't mention if you are using Nvidia or AMD GPU, so I will describe how to deal with this for Nvidia. In the folder where Doom Eternal is installed you will find a folder with a config file.

[steam root folder]/steamapps/common/DOOMEternal/launcherData/launcher.cfg

The first line of this file is:
rgl_minNvidiaDriverVersion 44575

This means it will warn if it detects an Nvidia GPU with drivers older than 445.75.

Simply change this line to something like:
rgl_minNvidiaDriverVersion 34575

Now as long as your drivers are newer than 345.75 (which probably don't even exist) it won't warn you.

I 100% agree with you and am in exactly the same situation as you are. I have had horrible experiences with Nvidia drivers in the past, and am convinced that around 20% are good, and the rest should be reserved for other people to discover the errors. I play a wide range of both old and new games. If a product will run, that's all I care about. Let me be the one to dictate if I should update my drivers or not.

Well, I did mention "my Geforce driver" in the second paragraph, but thanks for the tip.
