Menu Backgrounds
Is anyone else missing any of the menu backgrounds? I had them all unlocked I think? The last one I'd unlocked was I think the champion background, the one with all the dead demons at the foot of your altar and after the new update it's got rid of all of them and I only have the "hell on earth" one, I don't seem to be missing any of my skins or my save data, just those

They never worked right for me, they've been disappearing since the game came out. I'd unlock some and then they'd be gone within a day.

I had this problem shortly after the game came out, until someone told me to remove my launch options. In my case it was specifically the "+com_skipIntroVideo 1" option that caused it, once I launched the game without it the backgrounds were back. I never had that issue without that parameter.

Oh I just closed the game and reopened and they're all back again, weird

I've had the same issue, but the only thing is my game was bought without the intro of the 2 companies, meaning that mine disappeared either from Denuvo when it was in Eternal or something else.

Yeah mine only did that after Denuvo got removed, but qutting and restarting the game brought my stuff back again

And also my backgrounds were still gone no matter how hard I tried.
For me the backgrounds disappear and then come back when I open my game again

skip movies launch command breaks UI backgrounds

I can further complicate this report because I earned and used all the backgrounds while having the intro's skipped via startup.

My backgrounds did not disappear until I did a progress-reset on the game that was in my 2nd Save Slot. I added and deleted to the slot multiple times, first, without issue.

The backgrounds have never returned -- but I haven't done another full playthrough, either.
My experience proves the intro movies skipping is not the root cause, though.

Could still be a contributing cause though.

Main thing though - has anyone timed whether turning the intro movies off actually gets you into the menu faster? In both Doom (2016) and WolfTNC, the game took exactly (as in, within half a second or so) as long to get to the main menu without intro movies or with intro movies - they are essentially just playing to cover up the load times.

It's definitely faster to skip the animations if you are installed to an SSD.

I run Eternal off of a gen4 NVME drive, so about the fastest consumer level storage you can get at this point - I'll give it a test when I get home. Curious to see after the disappointing results in other idTech games.

Damn, it is faster, brought it down from 30 seconds to 14.

Kudos to id for streamlining game loading finally - it's been pretty bad since idTech 4.
