Can't get Cultist Base Empyrean Key

I go to the Cultist Base, get the purple key, fight my way through, but then when it ends the gate teleporter is gone but there's no key. It's the only key I'm missing and I don't want to go to the last area without the bonus weapon. I'm NOT using any cheats. Any ideas how to fix this?

I guess I'm confused.... here's the steps:


1. Get purple key
2. Open Slayer Gate and access the Gore Nest
3. Transported to arena, and kill all mobs
4. Transported back out and Gore Nest explodes in front of you
5. Empyrean key is floating where the Gore Nest Exploded
6. You run into the key and it becomes a part of your inventory
7. Return to fortress and access the button where the Unmakr is

Where in this sequence did you get screwed over? If I'm I'm reading you right sounds like you're saying that the Gore Nest at step five didn't explode, or was empty and no key floating in the air? Right?
