How do you guys deal with whiplash?

I'm able to handle tyrants, marauders, and nearly every demon in the game with minimal effort, but these whiplash bastards cause me more trouble than anything else. I've tried the ice bomb, and it technically works, but it's not really viable when you're getting swarmed by a group of them at once, which happens several times in the game. I've also tried the lock on burst with the rocket launcher, but it can be hard to lock onto them when other demons are around, and it's easy to waste 3 rockets on an imp or a zombie. Plus if you break line of sight, the rockets will just hit a wall instead of the target. The most viable strategy I've found was just to hook onto it, shoot it in the face with the ssg, and rush it with the plasma rifle until it's dead, but I'm curious to see if you guys have anything better, because I really don't want one of these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to end my ultra nightmare run

Sticky bombs, ballista and super shotgun if they're not max hp. Lock on rocket kill em outright after third one. Chaingun also works if they dont wiggle around on ground. Beware of blood punching them cuz its easy to miss their hitbox even if u were right on target. Use dash to dodges those ground tear lava whip aoe attacks cuz their aoe is bigger then it appears and often meter and half infront of animation of ground tearing apart. Dash back when they pull both of their whips/hands up and behind their necks (u get audio queue too) cuz that is fast and far reaching attacks they often use if ur out of reach or high ground. They sometimes dash left or right after first ground tear whip. They also know to just stand and watch you for few seconds from a distance if other demons or enviorment is in the way so it's a good time to ballista em. Flame hook ssg is great when they're not max health but if u have blood punch you can be cocky and try it outright just remember to aim bloodpunch more at their neck and boobs then belly or tail and center it in middle below their head. I often use some nade or stickys or even micromissles if im chillin or in a pitch ballista shot followed by ssp or even if situation is semi optimal a destroyer blade comboed with a rocker or ballista or medium range ssg. Ofc if u hate em that much just use one lock on rocket burst on each. They r my fav enemies to fight cuz they fight so elusively unlike any other demon and have some cool surprising attacks and are good at dodging and sneak attacking. My biggest pain with em is when they do their stand still for few secs thing on one of my flanks and just do a normal onehanded whip slash at me whilst im not noticing them cuz they r so idle on corner of screen while I battle some mancubuses or knights. I wish they had boobies itd be funny :p I would love to battle a boss or at least empowered snek or bunch of em totem buffed. Also like the rattling sound they make and those dreads looks cool.

3 Shotgun Sticky Bombs can usually outright kill them, as most other demons in the game (Sticky Bombs are literally the most useful weapon mod in the game), it's also pretty easy to stick their weakpoint/head when they are snaking on the ground after you, since their head comes first you know. Rocket Launcher Lock-on Burst guarantees a slightly faster kill with less effort.

As for their attacks, you should know that Whiplashes are a melee demon. They have that extremely high damage Argent ground wave that is annoyingly accurate and has medium range, BUT the basic strategy for me is to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ run away from them and have them slowly come up to me while I'm preparing some Sticky Bombs or a Lock-on Burst. In short, make them waste time coming to you, because they have no attacks at range. You don't want them starting attacks on you.

The 3 lock on rockets are by far the easiest and best solution. They are certainly worth the ammo.

You can also freeze them of course.

I usually deal with them by being dumb and using SSG Meathook out of shear panic of trying to switch to the rocket launcher and end up almost dying.

Yea I hate them with a passion. But i've found that the Lock-On rockets strategy is working pretty well, even if it risks wasting a bunch of rockets. I used to do Supershotgun meathook plus blood punch or plasma rifle burst mod plus blood punch, but that honestly works if you have a garunteed blood punch ready. My recommendation is just stick to the rockets and be ready with the chainsaw if you need more.

I've found ice bomb and blood punch on the first one ( yea they seem to come in triplets), then like the Marauder the SSG - Ballista. But you need the meathook chain mod active on SSG, and the Arablest mod active for faster hits on the Ballista. ( I practiced on the Super Gore Nest which has 3 of them that pop during the middle sequence... reloading checkpoint till I was able to get most of my weapon mods upgrades). The mods really do make a difference for you. Especially on Nightmare mode... That and using the computer to get to the practice area in the fortress...

If there are plenty of of zombies around, just use your regular shot gun and stun them and perform a glory kill to fill your blood punch, then use the ice bomb / blood punch on the whiplash's repeatedly. Those suckers are fast ... bummer.

u mean the crawling things? they melt away if u use plasma rifle.
they have the 2 best glory kill animations.
1 where u cut him with a Z shape from left to right and back to left.
2nd where u break his arm and shove it inside his brain.

my favority is the one where u break a zombies arm and aim his own gun on his head and shoots
but i digress thats another zombie
