To difficult to play for me
After playing Doom Eternal since it came out, I finally finished it on, I am too young to die, ( I am 61 ).

Jumping around like Tarzan, shooting gangs of monsters red or normal, constantly dying.and then another difficult jump dying again. Luckily I am retired so I have the time.

I must say I was more annoyd then amused playing this game.

Comparing to the previous Doom this game is much more difficult and stressing to play.

But I finished the game after many weeks of playing, so I must say I got some thing for my money.

But the game was`t really fun to play for me. Way to difficult, even when I play on easy mode.

No more jumping for me.

I have played 100 of games on difficult levels, but htis one, hmm.

Regards

Lars

THIS!
This is the issue with the game.
Not the difficulty. (After a few mins when someone gets the jizz of the game mechanic, it gets really not harder than the prev. Doom)
But the game is annoying instead of hard. That's what people who are offended by someone disliking the game should finally learn to understand.
git gud.
I haven't played anything below Nightmare but from what I've been reading here on the forums it seems like they should tune down the easiest difficulty. You're far from the only one who struggle with it and people play on the easiest difficulty for a reason.

Also; GJ! :)

Since you have finished the game you should have some cheats unlocked in the game.

That's probably the only way to make it easier.

No, leave Im too young to die alone ;)

Maybe add a tutorial type of difficulty (or hand out the unlimited ammo cheat first mission). Those cheats are part of the game and not necessarily only meant for fooling around after you've finished it.

But for those that are struggeling with the platforming aspect - at least so much that it annoys them - I think the game is just not your type. I have that with the Dark Souls games, would love to play them but the gamedesign is just not for me and annoys me. Mostly because I don't have the time (and maybe reflexes) and dedication needed.

I can sympathize with the OP. Compared to previous Doom games, even to Doom 2016, Doom Eternal is utterly relentless in every fight. You really can't take it easy or play sloppily in any of the monster encounters or you'll get your arse handed to you, quickly. The game is also much faster-paced than any previous Doom title to date, and the speed of gameplay feels a lot closer to that in classic arena shooters like Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament than in the previous single-player Doom titles... including Doom 2016.

I think a good metric to determine whether you'd enjoy Doom Eternal is not whether you liked Doom 2016 as much as if you enjoyed games like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. If you didn't like that style of combat, then you probably won't like Doom Eternal. And if you thought that Doom 3 was the best Doom game, you definitely won't like this game at all.

It has taken me a little while but i'm warming up to this game. I still think I consider 2016 better personally for a multitude of reasons, but there's no denying that this is a great game and pretty fun to play when in the right state of mind. Each to their own of course, any DOOM is good.

Yeah the demons really get up close and personal in this one, I clutched it so many times by chain sawing an imp to avoid a kill shot, and died many many more times before beating it on ultra violence. It definately gets your blood flowing and will keep you on your toes.

Yea, I'll admit I'm almost sixty-nine, and old dev who saw all this stuff emerge from the 80's ownward. When the first Doom came out I was a fanatic on shooters from then on, bought and played everyone I could get my hands on over the years. I think the only reason I've not had as many problems with this platforming is having done various theft, Tomb Raider, Assassin Creed series etc. which were early adopters of such platforming that has only gotten more difficult. Then games like Guild Wars 2 with it's jumping puzzles and others like it... This one is actually not bad once you get the rhythm of the double-jump and double dash down. One thing I did was spend a few hours at certain points (in preparation for a Nightmare, and hopefully later Utlra-Nightmare attempt) is practice over and over certain difficult jumps till it became so natural that later ones became easier and easier. It's almost like forcing oneself to build a habit that just becomes instinct. Once it's accomplished one hardly misses any jumps except when one's bandwidth or network FPS rate fluctuates, etc.

Because of that need for a better Framerate I've decided not to even attempt Ultra-Nighmare till I can save up and get a newer GPU than my old Titan X 2 gigabyte which was just on the edge of not making it even a 60 fps. I think Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare would have to have the newer cards for sure (to be completely successful, that is for higher 120 fps runs, etc.!). Not saying one couldn't do it, but I doubt I could at 60 frames a second. Even as much as I try I know that my age is a detriment because even I have to admit my reflexes, eyesight, and physical stamina just aren't what they used to be. :)

Either way, I feel for you buddy... us old guys got to stick together in this. Dang - to be young again with all the energy and adept reflexes. All these young guys are so good... us old geezers have to try harder. :)

The game relies heavily on the player forming new habits. You might go in thinking it's a continuation of DOOM 2016 game play wise, but you quickly find out that it's a whole different ball game altogether. I too found it to be relentless and brutal even on the easiest setting, but I'm up to the fourth play through and now it's easy as pie. I prefer to play shooters to relax, but I'm tempted to up the difficulty level, even though it's still fun as hell on I'm Too Young to Die.

I do tend to agree that the easy difficulty level is perhaps a bit too difficult for what it is. They need to bump up the current setting for "I'm Too Young to Die" to "Hey, Not too Rough", and create a new bottom tier skill setting that's a little bit slower and doesn't dish out as much damage. Some people with disabilities who can usually cope with shooters will have a hard time with this one, and whilst it probably smacks of inclusivity politics, there's some sense from a marketing perspective for having a broad range of difficulty levels available for players.

Doom was never marketed at an easy game on any level and it shouldn't have been assumed so.

all the marketing material promoted even faster gameplay and more movement/mobility.

I'm sorry to say you just don't have the skillset to enjoy the game.

or as others have put it. git gud

I am 40, and although I remember sharply beating all Doom 2 30 levels in Ultraviolence back in my highschool, Eternal gives me the hardest level atm in Hurt me Plenty. In some scene, I got to lower it to I am too young to die.

I was thinking it maybe just because Eternal, but in difficult scene, I handed it to my 9yo son (yea2, I know not suitable for kid), he can easily beat it!

Now I know.. age does matter.
