“I don’t understand people who say “it does not look cartoony it looks more realistic”
Most of armor and metal look like plastic/a ball of aluminum painted by acrylic dye.
Extremely big areas covered by green and red lights.
Platforming which looks absolute ridiculous.
Squarish and weird modeling to weapons buildings and a bit of the AI.
Absence of metalic textures, there are some shines some are very shinny but you can clearly see its not metal... its a bit impossible, I guess it looks ok or cool but notice how its not metal.
I didnt look too much on the recent update for obvious reasons but when I did I also saw they fixed and added some decals which is another problem..
Lost of esthetics and a bit inconsistency.
And of course the literal cartoony pick ups...
I mean but why they defend it?
Dont they like the style? So embrace what it for what it is...
But its definitely have some downgrades or changes in places against the new engine and smoother/sharper animation”
In addition, the game has a lot of new heroes / stories. Doom guy must be a nameless man who just beats monsters. That is the point. If you start to add that there are a lot of doom gays, a whole order, and in general there are some aliens from Indiana Jones, and they all fought in Roman arenas, and they also had healthy transforming robots with laser swords from star wars - then you just don't give a damn about the subject. And you understand the history of the game even less than the player.
It seems that the story was written by authors who were far from the plot, who were simply scored by quotas. The staff urgently needs to be staffed by women. Best if they are refugees. Feminists. Transgender. You can’t put them in programming, so let them write a plot. Do not give a damn about the fans, but public organizations will be happy.
I am sorry, if you want discuss the game that is OK, but that is just ramblings and gibberish.
but basically the kids who want their game to never feature daylight... :)
A nice art style ages like fine wine.
they all grew up to be professional victims lol
If anything, the atmosphere in Doom 2016 was quite similar to that of Doom Eternal--very tongue-in-cheek and action packed. Neither game takes itself very seriously, and both emphasize that the player is an unstoppable badass. In every previous Doom title, you were stuck in narrow corridors and rooms with demons; in Doom 2016 and Eternal, the demons are stuck in the room with you.
The one issue I have with Doom Eternal's atmosphere is that it seems to be deliberately designed to be as un-immersive as possible. I recall reading or hearing somewhere that this was a deliberate design choice, to remind the player that Doom Eternal is a video game. Compared to previous Doom games, you don't scavenge weapons and ammo from fallen enemies; there are bright glowing 1-ups floating in odd places, and pickups are all spinning icons, a la Quake III or Unreal Tournament. This isn't atrocious, but it is an odd design choice, in my opinion.
As for the platforming, Doom has always had platforming since 1993. However, some of the segments in Doom Eternal do feel added in solely for their own sake as opposed to being integral to navigating the level or finding secrets.
