Is sales of the game much lower than anticipated or it's just Beth trying to push for more copies sold quickly to please their investors?
They just wanna lure in the salties who didn't want to buy the game cause reasons.

To be fair nether of those 2 games were good.
Yup. Rage, Rage 2, Doom 2016, FO76, and ESO have all gone on sale within 2-ish months of launch. Game will for sure be on sale during the Steam summer sale and Quakecon. Doom Eternal going on sale at least 3 times within 6 months is par for the course.
