Gladiators eyes flash green when "attacking"

Biggest load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I've ever heard. He just keeps on attacking in his second phase, and I don't have enough dashes to deal with his flurries.
Another thing with the Marauder, "Medium range." The ♥♥♥♥ counts as medium range? He just chucks axes at any distance that isn't shotgun distance.

I had more fun once I ignored the normal tutorial advice. If you can do the SSG ballista ssg quickshot at Green eyes, do it. Otherwise, I said ♥♥♥♥ it. Stayed as far as I could at all times. Spammed rocket splash and grenades. Used ssg hook to get away it need be. This should always work except for the timed encounter (too slow)

Like you, I found the range thing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Tried to master it at the timed encounter but just didn't work, seemed too random. He'd just axe when he felt like it.

The shield eyes always blink before the "green eyes" attack. It's actually really obvious and better to look to in that fight.

Well yes, Gladiators shields eyes glow green before the attack. I saw that in the tutorial, and it was the only thing keeping me semi-sane. He'd still manage to land a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attack even though I would dash to the side, and again when I'd shoot him pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ well at the time but he would not stagger. The second phase though, no bueno. His own eyes start flashing green, but instead of it doing so at every attack, it just signals the start of a combo, and sometimes he just attacks cuz he feels like it without any green. Again, I'd get hit despite dashing away from the attacks. Timed it pretty well IMO but its like he'd track me after throwing his weapon.

the second phase is the jankiest ♥♥♥♥ on the planet, yeah, but his eyes flash very rarely so the tutorial just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lies in your face like the little ♥♥♥♥ it is, but his mace attacks go into the direction youre going, so try to fake it out, when hes gonna yeet his mace at you, dash in the other direction. and if his eyes do flash, super shotgun him.

In the second phase you’re just supposed to unload on him as soon as he opens up.
