Progress erased after every launch
Anyone seen this yet?

Restarted client after a corrupt save, now all game slots are cleared, Doom level is reset to 1, and all options/preferences are back to default. Event XP and skins/unlocks are still saved.

This happens every time the game launches now. Start a new game, make some progress, save and exit- launch the game again and it's all reset.

Same here.exept i still have all my settings and my xp.
Experienced all the save slots problems (corrupt/erased/restored) after my first playthrough and now it doesn't save at all anymore.
I've tried checking files integrity via steam, reclaiming files on bethesda through the game and copying the saves folder in c/username...progress is erased each time i launch the game.
The save slots are unusable
same here , and wtf to do?

Not sure... I tried completely deleting the folder for Doom Eternal in the userdata directory and then reinstalling, but it persists.

I opened a ticket with Bethesda so maybe we'll get an answer in 17 years

Sounds like something corrupted may have gotten saved in steam cloud. Try disabling steam cloud for DE, then play a bit, close and relaunch the game. If the progress saved, it is a cloud issue.

You can view/download the cloud files here, may be useful to download those in case your old progress can be recovered: https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorageapp/?appid=782330

Thanks for the link Animeye, didn't knew you could back up the cloud stuff through steam and indeed the desync did the trick, all my saves are restored and slots are working.

@Animeye you're exactly right, it's the cloud.

I was able to get progress to start saving again. My in-game and level progress is lost for good, but at least progress can be made again. To fix it:

1. Uninstall
2. Delete userdata folder for the game (...Steam \ userdata \ [user id] \ 782330)
3. Reinstall
4. In the Steam settings for the game, turn off Steam cloud sync
5. Launch the game, then exit
6. Turn Steam cloud sync back on. If you are prompted to use files in the cloud or local files, choose local files.

Should be set from there; the new uncorrupted files will continue to save and replace the previous files in the Steam cloud.

wow, I'll try that soon. If it works for me that means that you are better then Bethesda support...just 'cose I'm curious, how did you figure that out?

I was about to say exactly what bit.Demonic just said. I was goofing around with my save files (I backed them up, deleted the originals, launched the game, cleared some error messages, and then restored to original to see what would happen) and I think I caused the glitch to occur by being meddlesome. A complete reinstall is required and you need to remove every trace of the original install. I deleted the "My Saved Games\id Software\DOOM Eternal" folder as well just to be sure. Strangely enough, I didn't lose any progress except for one slayer gate.

Bethesda took a long time to respond, and their response was a screenshot request. After already describing the issue and sending a dxdiag and msinfo... so I just started trying everything I could think of
