He's trying to play custom WADs through the computer in the Fortress of Doom
I haven't tested this myself yet, but it seems to have helped people. I'm assuming some more modern wads don't work if they have dependencies on sourceports, yeah.
Try some older doom megawads.
I just tested it with Plutonia and that works!

yeah, the classicwads folder was apearantly not current in the game's first release. this was patched later on while I was still going through the campaign lol.
i'll try out Plutonia, thanks anyways
EDIT: oh sick, Plutonia actualy works fine!. thanks
I would like to know more about which wads are compatible. because the vanilla doom wads wiki page I found didn't seem to have anything that worked for me. lol
It's really fun as a novelty, but I wouldn't recommend going through it like this anyway. It runs at a very low framerate as a nod to the DOS era. Doom Guy needs to upgrade to 512mb RAM dammit!
it has vanilla comp, and the over-limit maps do not crash in Eternal
but you will have to do some extra things to get it to work
assuming you all ready bought Doom2
download a DOOM WAD editor and open up your main 1/2.wad file and just import all of the mod lumps in to the main wad from said mod.
take note that Eternal already has the game soundtrack in the main game files
so if it can not detect the music names for Doom2 it will default to Doom1 music
it's a curious thing to see how far you can push the port within Eternal
this is how I play DOOM it on my main computer

that is, if I'm not playing it on my 486 with a daughterboard
which sounds like this by the way
