Pro-Tip: Master the "Fast Weapon Switch" Tactic
Many players highly recommend mastering this tactic. It makes difficult encounters much more manageable. Your damage output is immense using this trick. Marauders, Doom Hunters, and even bosses go down much faster. Many speed-runners and those who play the game on the higher difficulties (like Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare) consider this tactic to be mandatory. I began using it a few days ago and it's definitely a major game changer.
I personally use the Super Shotgun and Ballista. Using the fast weapon switch tactic using these two weapons annihilates even the toughest of heavy and super heavy demons. They go down really quick.

Sorry man, but quickswapping wasn't an intentional design decision. As I said, those tutorial screens you see when the game is loading were added about a year after Doom Eternal released, as I said. It was originally an oversight, but Hugo and the rest of the devs saw it in gameplay videos and thought it was awesome, so they added the tutorial loading screens showing how to quick-swap.

So you're telling me tutorial screens you see when the game is loading were added to Doom 2016 about a year after Doom Eternal was released?? Adding to Eternal I totally understand, but adding it to Doom 2016 5 years after release...I just find that hard to believe...

Yes, that's what I'm telling you. This information comes directly from Hugo Martin himself. Look man, no disrespect to you and I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I'm not interested in wasting my time debating something that I know for 100% fact.
Have a good day.

I love necros but history is cool too. Quickswaps in 2016 were unintended at first, they tried to patch them out even in the multiplayer. They found a better middle ground and even encouraged it eventually.

It may have been accidental in 2016, but Eternal however was designed around quickswapping, their goal was to try to make the average player be able to play like below instead of spamming the super shotgun or siege mode all game and utilizing nothing else in the kit, which was the usual reason some players and reviewers found 2016 repetitive.

(Hugo Martin referred to this specific video as the "right way" to be playing, months before Eternal came out)

That loading screen tip in Eternal was indeed not in the game for awhile, I think they added that with the SGN master level? The inherit design of the Marauder though is to teach the players to switch fast or they will get torn apart for the rest of the game, though it wasn't very clear how long he was stunned on launch.

Why would you need quick switch for doom hunter?
Honest question.
If anything, it's one of those enemies, where it's faster to change weapon, but for each "phase" rather than quickswap.

It destroys their sled very quickly. And once their sled is destroyed, they lose the ability to shield themselves. When I encounter a Doom Hunter, I target their sled immediately.
Destroy the sled; then destroy the rest. It's much quicker and easier using this fast weapon switch tactic.

you don't even need to; just BP it twice or CGS Dash + BP spam it like how you do with Barons to make the BPs free with IB and FB. but yeah frag -> PB SSG will pop the sled in like 5 seconds as opposed to 3 just a little less safely but good in a pinch if you made a mistake.

its a glitch, your skipping the weapons cooldown timer.

It would be nice if this was addressed by bethesda, especially to keep people from doing it in MP

it's a mechanic that they intentionally put into the game; it improves over the way that weapon cool downs work in DOOM (2016) by canceling them and not just using other weapons during the cool down. This was intentional and there's literally a tool tip from the game telling you to quick switch with PB between the weapons. just git gud.

secondly id is the developer not Bethesda.

now if you could DKSMS in PvP then I would agree cause that is actually an unintended mechanic

I beat the game on Nightmare without having to do this. This seems like some Min-max stuff that some homosexual slur came up with because they weren't good enough.

Why are people even still commenting on this? This post is over two years old. I made it shortly after the game came out, when quick swapping was first being discovered. Calm down, autists.

imagine some homosexual slur coming up with the crazy idea to use an intended game mechanic, while you aren't good enough to use it but twist it all around, then donkey punch it and try to claim it's actually the inferior skill players who are doing it.

sorry but https://youtu.be/SnCw9ESwnFk nukes you from orbit, then quick swaps to BFG and nukes you again
