There probably won't be any deathmatch style modes in multiplayer.
And here's the reason why:
Bethesda’s global senior VP spoke to Shacknews to explain why deathmatch won’t be featuring in Doom Eternal. He explained that deathmatch in Doom 2016 didn’t fit with the rest of the game.
"It felt really disconnected from the base game that everybody loved.” Going on to say, "Whether you're playing by yourself or with others, we want it to feel like you're all playing the same game." That's as opposed to, "I'm a badass demon slayer in single-player, but when I go over to multiplayer, there are no demons, and it's just deathmatch."
YES BUT YOU'VE BEEN KILLING ALL DEMONS THROUGH THE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN!
Would it hurt with something else?!
The worst part is we don't even get the choice. They could clear this up by making a poll, and ask people if they care about deathmatch or if they agree with the above statement.
I think MANY people want deathmatch. The game is everything Doom 2016 was, but faster.
It plays much more fluently, and would be much better for Deathmatch than Doom 2016.
There are not a lot of people playing battlemode already. It takes a long time for me to find a game as it is. And in a month or so, it might be completely empty since it's the only mode there is. And it sucks.
I played battlemode and it is so
I think Bethesda will not allow for it because it's too competitive for QC and there you have item shop. So yeah... I'm expecting to be disappointed.
No, it's pretty damn dead and was never very big or popular to begin with. Which is why they obviously want to it survive instead of putting out a competing product against themselves. Seeing as how it's a free to play game trying to sell you premium skins and other such nonsense, you can probably figure out why they would be more interested in keeping that afloat than making another similar multiplayer game they can't monetize as much.
If it's so dead the smart thing would be to support Dooms online. I wouldn't mind some paid cosmetics and what not. So long as it's not too invasive.
