Less storage than Doom 2016 !
I noticed that this game takes about 40 GB of storage while Doom 2016 takes about 70 GB. That's a 30 GB difference; any idea why ?

If you noticed in doom 2016 if you swapped a gun you'll see the assets load in, if you walked into a new area you'll see assets pop into existence. These were all flaws of mega textures not to mention the insane file sizes.

Less content.

The campaign is about the same, but you don't have even nearly as much Multiplayer stuff and the Snap Map stuff is gone.

the bulk of those 70 gb was prob multiplayer and snapmap content most players nevery touched

Digital Foundry kinda went into this but it's pretty much better compression. I'd assume ditching Megatextures did a lot of good for this too since Rage was pretty big for its time as well.

I wouldn't say it's DLC since I remember Doom 2016 being pretty damn big even when it first launched.

I honestly can't remember... was it a free DLC or did they simply call it an "Update" because I don't remember paying for anything else after buying Doom 2016. I do remember a HUGE update... because didn't the menu and a lot change, and this was possibly one year after release?

All the DLC was for the Multiplayer, and at some point they made it all free.

I think it was their attempt to try to revive the Multiplayer, not sure if it worked or not...
