CPU usage issues
So when the game launched everything was working great. Was playing at like 120fps. It was amazing. Now the game won't use over 10% of my CPU and it drops the framerate to 40-50. I cannot seem to figure out why. It's not the GPU because render times haven't changed. CPU frame times are at 20ms though. For no reason. Is this from the new update?

I Am having a similar issue. When i restart my PC and start Doom Eternal, it runs fine, on ultra nightmare 4K im getting 60-80 FPS CPU usage on all cores is even at 30%-60%.

However, when i exit the game and start the game again (without restrting my PC) it only uses my first 2 cores (4 threads) and tehr est is at 0% -5% and my FPS is about the same but a bit choppy. When i restart my pc it goes back to normal

this post is the first time i see a similar issue as mine.

Specs:

RTX 2080 8GB
Ryzen 7 3600x
16 GB RAM
1TB M.2

Try disabling the steam in-game overlay in the subsection of the steam settings titled "In-Game"

-Hope this helps!

This, the Steam overlay is causing big performance issues for some systems.

MSI Afterburner OSD-parametrics was causing performance problems for me too. Very low GPU and CPU load, but poor frame rate.

I tried everything before I found a solution. My issue will probably be different than most. I had to uninstall my Intel Chipset INF and RST drivers and reinstall them. That fixed the problem for me.

Hi Everyone, hopefully this helps someone. I was able to fix my issue by disconeccting my other monitors and only playing with one monitor. i also disabled steam overlay, updated all drivers and bios.

How did you update the drivers exactly? Where do you go on your computer to do that?

You need to go to your motherboard manufacturers website and download the drivers for your specific motherboard.
