Because every change that was made between doom 2016, and doom eternal was a case of change for changes sake. Doom 2016 was a near perfect doom game, but for some reason they found the need to change a lot of mechanics of the game for no real good reason other then for changes sake.
I noramlly dont like to call out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but dude, cmon, the story is a total mess. Doom 2016 felt like a really good reboot of the story and had a lot of good questions answered and left a good cliff hanger. Doom eternal just starts with you on a fortresss ship with vega helping you out going down to earth to fight daemons, with ZERO story as to how you got there.
Friendmigration from Steam to Bethesda . net is also not possible! You understand now why they made a smaller Multiplayer?
the original succes of doom's gameplay is his claustrophobic level design hat can give you a violent ptsd .But i don't find that little touch in doom eternal : '( .
-Chainsaw changed from a melee version of the BFG that would happen to grant ammo, with the main gimic of it being able to one shot any deamon and happened to grant ammo. to a stable weapon you have to use in order to generate ammo
-Ammo pools are way to small compared to doom 2016 forcing you to use weapons out of neccessity rather then preference
-Weak spots added to enemies again forcing you to use weapons that a specificaly designed to take out those weak points rather then the weapon you like to use.
-Super shotgun reworked to have a hook for some reason, that does not really make any sense, and is hardly useful enough to justify it being a modification
-The game in general feels slower
-The addition of a dash mechanic seem unneeded but are again shoe horned into using it.
-The fact your melee punches cant even stun the weakest enemies in the game, zombies, to then glory kill forcing you to use ammo
-The addition of the blade arm homogonizing glory kills to where i would say close to 80% of them are just, stab in head.
-Flame thrower added in for armor gen despite armor gen system of 2016 being a very good system that fit right into the flow of the game and did not need a seperate mechanic you need to use now.
-Changes to existing weapons for, in many cased down grades to the doom 2016 version of the weapon. like the plasma gun in doom eternal is a direct down grade from the one in 2016. i find myself longing for the weapons from 2016 over these new ones. Like i would LOVE the 2016 super shot gun over the one they have now.
