If you want to actually replay the game, select a different save slot.
For me it's slightly annoying as I often have to get up from my desk, so I can kinda see your point, especially when you're still exploring the levels and haven't got the rhythm of each down yet.
Point being, don't start what you can't finish. BTW there is nothing to fix, it ain't broke.
It's missing functionality thats been in games for years. Saying dont finish what you started is not adding anyting productive.
What I'm saying is, replaying a map is not a start n stop option. If you don't have the hour to sit and replay the map, then don't start. There should be no reason to break off in the middle. I'm not one of those people who replays map's. So maybe I don't really see your PoV. I do goback for 1up's and to master weapons only.
There is no option to continue in a replay, and considering 2016 did not either it's obvious this is intentional design.
