The scene with King Novik seems very out of place

yeah i dunno bout the "story" aspects of this one, the Doomslayer in Doom 2016 was slowly revealed to be the same marine from the previous games, but the stuff here feels like they are retconning all that.

still only on the 3rd mission myself so who knows what's to come.

the guy we meet in hell is doom-guy if i understand this correct, he's in exile because he feels remorse for aiding hell destroy the night sentinals

if Doom slayer is an ancient night sentinal it makes sense. He still don't listen to his king, sinse the king explained doom slayer is fighting a losing battle and humanity's time is over, yet he still walks away with the intent to destroy hell.
