Press A to continue
So, I'm playing on the PC with the keyboard and it's saying press A to continue. It's been referencing controller buttons all the time and I can usually figure out which button the keyboard to hit, but I've hit every button the keyboard AND mouse and it will not continue. Nothing works...

I disabled the controller I have in the settings otherwise I would have just it that to hit A,(I don't play FPS with a controller) but as I said. Nothing seems to work. Not even ESC to get to the settings screen to re-enable the controller for this purpose.

I feel like I'm just going to have to use the task manager to outright kill the game.'

Anyone else have any idea?

btw, this happens when loading from a checkpoint.

You can disable the "Press this button to contiue"-screen with the following commands:
Right click DOOM Eternal, Properties, Set launch options and paste the following text into the window:
+com_skipKeyPressOnLoadScreens 1
and press OK.

You might as well want to use the skip-intro command:
+com_skipIntroVideo 1

I've seen some people have this bug with controller disabled while having a controller connected.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I had some issues with my hud showing up even though they were enabled.. Try setting all you setting back to default and go from there..

Or unplug your controller...

Same issue. Just started it for the first time. Why am I not surprised there's a game breaking bug for something basic...

Try disconnecting your controller. That fixes it for me.

Thank you, RZK! Your solution works and saves me a lot of time having to disable my controller when I die just so the "Press Spacebar to Continue" instruction would pop up before re-enabling my controller.
