Just go to the objective - it will open up path and bar to jump on will appear in front of the button you must shoot. It's much easier that way.
Doesn't matter if you launched them for that stage or not, once you launch them, game thinks they are still on.
OMG...exact same thing happened to me. So frustrating. I almost entirely quit the game.
Such a great game...it would be great if they fixed that one area. Two issues:
1. Obviously, going into the elevator that goes below the floor should not kill you (or maybe it just reset me, but it made me think I had been killed. I was frustrated too, because it looked like you could go down. I was like...hmm, lazy design there, that's annoying. Also it made me think I couldn't go that way.
2. Because I couldn't go down, I assumed I had to do a crazy curving jump from the up elevator, shoot the green button in mid-air, hit shift and dash to the grabbing wall. Took a while to get the hang of it, but I did, then I started hitting it, but it wouldn't grab. i started to question if I was using the right controls. Anyway - probably 20 mins later, here I am.
Please fix this! *cries into the abyss*
