Can you test this? Change the steam client to use beta (beta participation). It has a newer libvulkan:

It actually works very well. If the game looses focus to a popup message or ALT-TAB, the game looses focus there's no way to get it back and has to be killed from a terminal.
Fiddling with the video settings also causes the game to lose focus.
I'm assuming once the next official Proton comes out, it'll address those issues, and is why it's probably taking so long. (COVID-19 non-withstanding)

Currently running on Ubuntu 19.10
As of writing:
Running it on a Ryzen 5 3600, with a RTX 2060 Super
Kernel 5.6.2
NVIDIA Driver 440.82
Proton 5.5-GE-1 (Glorious Eggroll custom proton)
On AMD hardware you do still need the very latest MESA drivers from Git and Vulkan-icd-loader 1.2.135+.
Hey,
can you help me getting these installed?
Currently I'm on mesa version 19.3.3 from the official MXLinux repo.
