Bethesda games tend to release during the daytime hours in EST.

It's distinctly possible that other timezones may not see it until technically the 21st.

Doom 2016 and other Bethesda titles usually released for me at around 2AM CEST on the day of the release. Which means right as the day starts, but of course, it's different to each corresponding timezone.

Is CEST basically EST or am I off?

EST is Eastern, CEST is Central European, they are apart by 7 hours, if I am correct.

Ah, ok. And would it be 2am on the 21st or 20th for you in that example?

2AM on the 20th. I'm really looking forward to the release day. I'll get plenty of sleep first, then let it to unlock after preload while I go for the retail version that's for my friend. Then it's Rip&Tear for 3 days.

Ah, gotcha.

I plan on doing the same thing more or less: stay awake for a few days before the 20th, get 15+ hours of sleep and wake up right as it's unlocked/finished downloading. Then I'll be ready to Rip&Tear for 20+ hours, hopefully finishing the campaign, if not getting 70% of the way through.

I remember working late night (here in Poland) and being surprised Doom 2016 unlocked already... so instead going to sleep, already being very tired, I did what I had to ;)

Where in Europe are you?

Czech, the same timezone as Poland. Although we currently don't use CEST, I use it as a general marker for Europe.

I understand that, completely.
