That's news to me, I've still got my original Apogee floppies for Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, and I thought Doom 2016 was a fun game.
I'll be waiting for this one to get some patches and playthrough videos before I buy it (and hopefully ditch the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Denuvo before long), but I'm certainly hoping it'll be as fun as the previous one.
Anyway what would you want to see from a doom game in 2019? Because I'm struggling to comprehend what resemblances with doom 1 you're missing in modern dooms. Same weapon arsenal, redesigned but mostly same enemies, better gameplay, better weapon impact, larger more detailed levels. That's imo. I'm looking forward to hearing what you're missing in modern doom that you loved about doom 1
To me, it was the natural progression of the FPS genre. Where Painkiller (the original one) took the same concept and applied it to a more "monster arena" style level design, the new DOOM took *that* concept and made the arenas in smaller rooms with continual monster spawns and item pickups. Sort of levels-within-levels. It felt good, and made for a superior game.
If you still want the old style, you can always play one of the many oldschool FPSs still being made, like Amid Evil, Prodeus, Dusk, and Ion Maiden.
It's really rather simple, if they want to keep playing the same old game over and over, then there's other titles out there that pretty much copy the old Doom games almost Verbatim.
The new Doom is an Evolution of the series and the genre, and if it's not for them, fine, don't play it.
I'll decide for myself once it's been released, based on gameplay vids, maybe one or two reviews by other gamers, and/or playing a friend's copy.
Everything since Doom 3 is trash, just fire up Painkiller/Serious Sam or one of the later mods for Doom. Old classic will get an RTX engine eventually. No reason to buy hot garbage.
Oh, and you must take this meme with you:
Glory kill was awesome and it rewardef berserker like plays, and most important of all it didnt slowdown the combat at all
Most people enjoyed Doom2016 a ton, it wasn't just journalists or people too dumb to form their own opinion on what they find fun.
Not only does the game come to a halt during a kill, the game relies entirely on it since that's the only way to consistently turn out supplies. Make it even worse, give glory kills godframes so there's no risk involved. It's Brutal Doom without any flourish.
Lulno. You have a ton of content to raid through, the sequels, the mods, the cousins like Strife. Hedon is even more recent and it's great.
