Because their low skill nostalgiatards. Glory kills are not just mindless gore, they add a strategic element to the game. Do you need the health or you just shoot them? It's not the game's fault if the player isn't fast enough to finish off bosses or not skilled enough to complete challenges to earn the runes required for cheese strats.

Also the Doomslayer is wearing powered armor. May as well use what he has instead of wasting ammo. Exosuits should be capable of giving a full grown adult enough strength to crush a human skull. And the Praetor Suit is centuries better than that.

The majority of Doom players have not complained about Glory Kills. There's 1 very vocal user on this forum that started a so-called "petition" to have them removed which is actually nothing but a troll thread. Don't worry, Id isn't removing Glory Kills. He will be disappointed. The rest of us will just enjoy playing Doom Eternal.

I'm not a fan because they get in the way of just shooting things and are entirely tedious and repetitive. And because there's so, so many better ways to execute the same broad concept. If I play Eternal it will be in spite of them, not because of them.

Read the codex. Doom slayer and Doom Guy are not the same person. It has been even said by one of the developers in the interviews.
This is a total reboot of the entire franchise. Doom Slayer is not even "Human".

Glory kills? I don't really care whether they're 'canned' or 'unskilled'. They look cool and help sell the fantasy that the Slayer is an incarnation of vengeance that can tear two-story brutes to pieces with his bare hands.
