Best/Meta Loadout + Turret comp? (SURVIVAL)
What is best in general, across all maps? (Survival mode)
I have 60 hours
Here is my take so far:

1) Direct all resources to rift breaker (not taking into account economy/power)

Start-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SMG + Grenade Launcher

Early-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corrosive gun w/ cluster + Plasma w/ cluster (if no cluster, piercing/dmg)
TIME WARP skill ASAP

Mid--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Corrosive gun w/ cluster + Laser II+ w/ piercing (lightning not enough dps)
+all sentries

Late/Ideal endgame---------------------------------------------------------------------
Corrosive gun w/ cluster, cluster, ammo/shotsperburst + Laser w/ piercing, dmg, ammo
+all sentries
+max movement speed upgrades (and no heavy weapons)
+time warp skill

2) Direct remaining resources to turrets
~4 minigun : 4 plasma : 1 portal bomb : 1 artillery

...It literally depends on the enemy typing. Without a high calibre type some enemies will take forever to kill.

Most folk will get a shotgun the moment the armoury is built to cover high calibre as its super cheap, never runs out of ammo and hits very hard without any mods.

Some really annoying enemies are resistant to energy and rocket damage and depending on the map they will resist elemental effects. Not many resist high calibre lol Even the basic shotgun turret is very effective because of this.

If "meta" is something thats just always a good pickup, that would be the shotgun for sure.
first off, you don't mention the difficulty - stuff that works for normal will not work on brutal, simply because you get much more spawns, stronger enemies many more omegas.

its why sentries don't work for me.

high caliber deals physical damage and everything that looks like its bulky/made of rocks is resistant to it. still a nice clearing weapon, especially early on when you get mostly soft targets.

corrosive is really situational, as many enemies have resistances to it. but with the right mods/ boni can become a beast.

early game i use gravmines + shotty + smg and flamer/variants depending on biome.

lategame whatever extreme quality weapons RNG-Jesus decides to drop my way. nothing beats having 4 - 6 extreme weapons and cycling them through for that last wave. so i save lots of eggs for when i have enough extreme tech weapons unlocked.
i don't want to craft any extreme weapons for myself those 20 - 30k are better spent on towers.

up here lightning gun - always tend to get that on extreme quality, as the tech is free.

high cal + explosives are always on my tech list, but i use what i get, prefer rockets over granade launcher, and shotgun over high cal / burst, but if its red, i use it :steamhappy:

not to forget root gun AOE + never runs out off ammo,

lastly what i do sell are those annoying chainsaws, they don't work for me, only good for getting some resources, i could run them dual red every survival -.-

skills:
holo decoy, takes the aggro.
mines/ granades: grav / nuke or ice if i do get to teching them
tornados, you can switch the type midbattle to get a free one/two without cooldown want fire acid and ice tornadoes tearing everything appart, go for it. you can take care of 3 waves by switching them.
or cycle orbital bombardment / laser

appart from that fusion core x 4

*edit as you asked for towers as well:

artillery, shotgun, flamer, railgun, repair, acid shredder, hcm /rod throwers on lvl 1 or 2. depending on rare mineral costs, around 20 - 30 per defense block, 3 layered walls with 1 space
I usually go for Alien Camouflage early since it's so powerful.
Otherwise i mostly switch my weapons by biome since the resistances vary too much to make a general loadout really feasible on the higher difficulties.

The only one that's really proven useful everywhere is a shotgun with range & splash.
Clears half your screen of fodder, does huge damage to nests and omegas that aren't resistant and is easy on the ammo consumption.

Though i have to say that for early game raid defense floating mines are incredibly undervalued.
Just spamming the entire direction the wave is coming from with floating mines (modded with reduced ammo cost) and leading enemies through your giant minefield once they appear may just be the best use of that 2 minute warning there is.


For equipment & abilities i generally go grenades, reactor overload, repair, drone swarm, flame wave, energy trail, emergency explosion and radar pulse with flame wave being switched out for gas or gravity grenades depending on biome. The rest are pretty constant though.


Also seconding fusion cores, though i only switch them in when building. Paying half price or less on everything you build makes the resource grind so much easier.
Same for titanium machinery when you just need to get that fusion reactor up in a hurry.


For towers just try to cover the weaknesses of the enemies that show up. Of note is only that lightning towers are great on metal valley to deal with Wingmites and you really want a decent amount of acid & cold damage to keep Gnerots, Krocoons and Hammeroceros from just smashing through your walls.
