Unable to publish mods - error K_ERsultInvalidState

I'm trying to create a few mods and i've made my workspace in the tools, made an appropriate 16:9 image, included the modded files and when attempting to publish via the workspace editor tools to steam i'm given the error "[ERROR] upload to Steam failed with error K_ERsultInvalidState" I can't find anything on google about this specific error so im stumped as to what i'm doing wrong and how to get around to uploading my first mod, could anyone share some light if they know please?

You need to launch the tools from Steam. You get that error when you've launched the tools by running the exe directly yourself.

Oh thank you, I had to copy the tools folder into my riftbreaker folder to make the tools even work as they install to a separate folder and refuse to run on their own, guess i'll just live with uploading mods to mod.io then.
