Brutal campaing
Hey, the DLC has improved the brutal mode? It was very easy in the original game.

i´d like to know this, too. has brutal changed? is it now at least hard?
Masta-Piece Jul 18, 2022 @ 4:53pm
i'm playing brutal now. Lets just say its harder. I'm encountering ultras early on during waves to the point that i'm not even confident that my base can even handle it. I have to aggro them away from my base otherwise they'll just wipe everything out.

optimal. thanks man!

on further playing the campaign on brutal, it got easy pretty quick. I was expecting only ultra to spawn but i'm still getting basic level creatures on my outposts. the waves on the outposts also spawn less creatures than the main map. It's funny because in survival brutal more ultras spawn making your tier one towers useless lol. Will have to try out the custom campaign difficulty next time.

i have been doing custom with max "additional waves" and brutal difficulty and i cant get past the first wave yet there are just so many

did 500% and brutal strenght run recently with 200% buildtime and rest on normal.
its really hard to survive the first 2 HQ upgrades. I struggled and restarted 2 to 3 (HQ explode) times, then played very efficient and walled everything at least 3-4 times in. its getting easier by teching higher (ironically mid to endgame is easier) but it was a blast!

always recommend going at least 150-200% with buildtime to delete the buildspam-"exploit".

btw i don´t think its possible for a normal human to play 500% + brutal + 200% monster damage. (without cheesing the hell out of walls and stuff) you try to kill the waves with your mech-explosions then lol.

in my opinion its really really hard now up until mid to lategame. outposts are a bit easier though.

The problem isn't quantity its quality. By mid to late game your level 3 towers are facing less than ultra level creatures. This game also needs smarter creatures.

For example what if those kermon creatures could bypass your defensive towers due its invisibility? this would need specialized towers to detect these creatures. they could even have the ability to disable wall gates and infiltrate the base to attack more vulnerable structures.

Another idea would be: what if there was a creature that provided an aura to nearby creatures that reduces specific type of damage such as energy? this would make the mech (you) have to go out there and kill those creatures before the other creatures destroys your base.

In conclusion, enemy creatures need to be smarter not spawn more. All you need to beat that is built more towers. Outposts do need a boost in quantity though.

this. we really need some more features and mechanics for the monsters. they could take some inspiration from games like they are billions.

Campaign will always be significantly easier than skirmish due to nature of how it works.

Actually it gets really easy in the mid game... Very frustrating... I hoped it would get fixed with the DLC, but no

All the devs need to do is make it so that in brutal only ultras spawn and boost wave quantity in outposts and the problems (for now) is solved. But like i said smarter enemies are needed.

just use custom, set invasion force to 500%, prepare time 50%, frequency 50%, and 200%+ enemy damage with brutal settings and hope you have a very good CPU & GPU.

yeah but that kind of misses the point. you could always just tweak the settings so that 1 million mobs spawn and each can 1-hit you but that doesn´t add much to the gameplay.

there need to be some changes to mobs per se. smarter behaviour, special monsters, challenge that requires more thinking, more preperation and so on.

Just finished brutal campaign. I thought the final wave was way too easy, I barely broke a sweat.

And while what was said above is true, I could use custom settings, I mean the final wave is too weak in relation what was thrown at me before. To some regard it seemed to me, that some of the regular waves (that come only from one side) were more difficult than beating the final wave. And that is where I think the devs should tweak a little. More elites, more bosses, so that it does feel significantly harder then normal waves.

I will be honest, i don't even know why i'm building base defences. Every time a wave is coming, i just go and facetank them and kill the entire horde by myself. :D
