Any chance the ability to zoom-out will be implemented?
I really dig the game, I just feel a little claustrophobic with the camera as close as it is.

There is a way.. but it is not officially supported (and top secret). That may cause some problem with performance, things could look bad, ugly or bugged BUT.. :D

If you open the developer control panel with " ` " (tilde key) and write this:

camera_enable_zoom 1

Then use scroll :D have fun!

The camera is locked in the current zoom level for performance considerations, but that might change later.

Understandable, but Im getting over 120 fps with everything on max, having the option for big rigs would be ideal.

Noted!

Would appreciate the removal of arbitrarily locking the zoom. The game could benefit (both strategically and visually) greatly with a increased zoom level, even if you need to make it a control in the options screen somewhere. As-is, it does somewhat take away from the experience because it's easy to theorise how the game, and base management aspects specifically, can so greatly benefit with a larger field of view.

I second this one, would love ability to scroll zoom, maybe to a min, med, max zoom level or something. If med was the current level, that would allow min to be a glorious close up view of the game, max would allow a bit more RTS control and visibility.

Close-ups are not that glorious :) Our models and textures are created with our specific camera distance and angle in mind. They work well in current conditions, but lack the level of detail when you zoom in. Zoom out, however, could work - albeit at a performance cost.

Since we got this request many times now we have had a discussion and we're considering enabling zoom out feature, at least in some capacity, even if it's just limited to building mode. We will test this solution and let you know what conclusions we came to.

Understandable but it would be a great addition, any game where you can zoom in and out has this issue... xd any great texture looks bad if you watch it close enough

This is fantastic news, the zoom is the only thing that bothers me about this game. God knows the physics is drop dead gorgeous!

I'd also like to be able to zoom out a bit more, as other's mentioned, the option for more powerful rigs would be nice.

Just need a note on the option "enabling Zoom will reduce performance even on high end Pc's and is not recommended"

Funny thing about Pc gamer's, we like our on/off switches.

Who doesn't want to zoom out to admire their handiwork?

Zoom out will have a performance hit on most games, so dont worry about that, people know what they can handle. From monster rigs, to potato ones, we want zoomies.
