Is the game winnable? Resources is running out faster than I type pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
So, Ive almost mined out everything in the main map, the resource points towards the edges dont seem to be worth mining as it costs more resources than what it gives to get up a good defended base mid- to lategame.
I thought I'd be able to set up mining operations on the other maps, but they seem to mine out faster than I load the main map when teleporting back.
Is there any technology that lets me find deeper resources, and richer fields, or is this as good as it gets and I must simply start over in a new campaign and try to win much faster? o_O

Edit: Oh, and I can add that the monsters mid- to lategame is much stronger and wrecking my bases unless I spend ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of resources on defense and ammunition, so I always feel like I take one step forward and two steps backwards at this point.
I'd almost dare to say the game feels a bit... unbalanced..

Resources are infinite later on.
You should start placing outposts asap as game tells you not turtle on main base - thats pointless and it's a huge waste of time.
Focus on alien research - cultivators.
And for carbon/iron synthesizers

your miners get more efficient, they drain the patch the same amount, but produce more ore as you tech them up.

You get outpost maps to farm more resources on, and later on you get 2 methods of infinite resources. Firstly you get plant cultivation and harvesting, which produces both minerals (you can pick plant type for specific resources) and power. And when you have lots of power you can synthesise the two base resources.

Keep in mind that T3 miners for example consume -1 of the resource but produce +4. For defense balance between turrets with ammo vs energy. Also keep in mind that enemies are dumb and tend to attack closest building. So you can make your outpost "stick out" and just proceed to building power lines to power your miners that are further from the map edge. You can also find new nodes with geoscanner.

on my second playthrough i barelly used the ores on the main map and i just grew all the ressources out of water in the cultivators xD

Thanks for your pointers. I might have turtled on the main base a bit too long, but the enemies there dont seem to get as hard as on the outposts. I'll learn from your advice and try and re-evaluate my options and play a bit longer on this campaign.
Thanks again :)

If you are really low on carbon/iron you can use a trick.
Go to first desert planet with low threat - place a lot of solars and synthesizers - this will allow you to recover.
