Global Objective: Gather Acidic Yeast Colony Root Specimens

Database / Other: Fermentus Acidus (Acidic Yeast) = 150

This is a Familiarity of 8 (do I need to get to a certain level?)

This is the 2nd map I am on and it's the first Outpost I have, too.
I do not have all research done in the three "tech trees", but I have most.

I've built the "Research Station" that has a range of 25 next to a 'growing' acid colony, but still nothing.

Built the "Anti-corrosive" floor as well with the research facility on it, plus a large portion of my base is using that same floor type.

Revealed the entire map.

Have 75% of the map under radar coverage.

New "growths" continue to spawn as I eliminate old ones, and i scan them as well, but still cannot complete the mission.

Questions:
Do I need to be on a different Acidic Map that is *not* the 'reconnaissance' map version?


ANSWER:
Need to be on the next map called, "Acidic Yeast Colony Research" and study the giant Root, but you can accidentally kill the giant root.

You need to place the Research Station close to the giant acidic yeast roots IIRC, the ones you cannot destroy. Beware this will trigger an attack wave.

Is this on the Acidic Plains Reconnaissance map or the Non-Acidic Reconnaissance map?

Its been quite some time since I last did a playthrough so I cant remember the names but the mission where you have to scan, with the research station, Acidic Yeast Roots have giant acidic yeasts but if you don't then its probably a different mission than the one I'm thinking.

Maybe if you have some screenshots I would be able to better see what the problem is.

Acidic recon allows you to do the research for the anti-corrosive floor and such. The next map that opens up is the one for the giant yeast colony research. The roots are much MUCH larger than the random colonies that you first find.
