Worse still the maths the game displays is janky. It claims a particular DPS, but then looking at max fire rate and max damage, multiplying those out gives, yep, 60-70% of the claimed DPS.
All a bit strange, the DPS is pulling the number from somewhere in the code, likely older code, or there's just a slight error somewhere giving a heightened figure, and the game still uses the base damage figure.
If the random mechanics annoy you, you can install this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/theriftbreaker/mods/198 (haven't seen it in the steam workshop yet)
At Brutal difficulty, your mech alone cannot hold back a HQ attack wave today simply because of the Nov patch that reduced ammo drastically. Also even with Extreme quality weapons, try popping a RED bioanomaly alone and see what happens. Of course, this is relative to the game as-is, without "cheating" mods.
I can only imagine. I tried it on hard and popped a red anomaly. Let's just say the fight used practically every inch of the map, which not to mention means running into enemies that had nothing to do with the anomaly. Brutal? Nah, I don't think so, hard pass.
I don't think you can do that either. I could hold back one stream of the attack, not the whole attack. Investigating a red anomaly did turn out quite a surprise, though; I hadn't been playing the game since August.
Try this. Drop one sentry gun and one lightning sentry, one or two mines, and build the smallest rectangle around them with walls; then repeat. You can also place a couple additional pieces of wall nearby. Enemies tend to attack the closest walls, meanwhile the sentries do damage, and you can flank the enemies. I dont' recommend standing between the enemies and the walls. In any case, the base should be ready should the enemies make it there.
Thanks, yeah just tried it. You know I never even bothered using sentries, content just to use mines and grenades. But those lightning sentries are really good at frying the little ankle biters, and the walls help them last a bit longer and takes the attention off you. Cheers.
