Cant finish mission

I have this mission to investigate the appearance of an unusually large creature, but I go there and nothing is there so I can't finish. It's just a red target arrow on the ground. How do I fix/complete this?

I wonder how so many people ask this. Is the red target arrow covered by radar in your case?
Also, don`t forget to use search.

I've built nothing where the target arrow is. I've scanned/searched the place the 5 different ways you can. I just now put a radar next to it to see if that would do it. Nothing is there but a blinking red arrow staring at the ground.

Same for me at the "Radioactive Desert Reconnaissance" Mission, i have the "Locate the unusual creature" mission, i scouted the complete map but there is none

Same here.
No indicator on the map, scouted almost the entire map.
I do have a tiny bit of the yellow circle visible in the top left corner of the map.
Almost like the circle is located 98% outside the map border.

Same problem here. No yellow zone or indicator on the map whatsoever. Whatever I'm supposed to find just didn't spawn.

Exactly the same problem, and I have already played the game and decided to replay it, there was no such garbage before. I have already cleaned the entire map up and down several times.

How does anyone expect it would help posting "same" in a topic for different issue?

"unusually large creature" is boss spawn on HQ map.
"Locate the unusual creature" is common stegaros unit on first desert map.

Is it on Steam? What difficulty? Have you sent bug report? Have you installed any mods? Have you read exor_logs.txt?

It is just a part of gui.

I found a fix for this issue on the know bugs megathread. You have to use the console (default tilde on PC) to enable the debug menu with "cheat_enable_debug_menu 1" from there, hit F11. You will be able to spawn in a wave of regular Stegaros mobs from there - scan one and you'll complete the objective. You can then type "cheat_enable_debug_menu 0" in the console to deactivate it and move on. Good luck!

I know whats happened and I will also have to cheat to fix this, I am playing on brutal and the quest is not retro active and does not give a ♥♥♥♥ if you have scanned the ultra and alpha versions of the mob it must be the "basic" one or you cant complete the quest. As I am on brutal the basic mobs do not spawn.........

same on main map/world. very annoying

In the main building category, where your outpost building is, there is a research lab building. Build that next to the search locations and power it. The use the search button (Square on PS controller or X on Xbox). You should get blue circles while you search the spot it tells you to. The final spot the creature retreats to require you to build an mining elevator (Drill), also in the main build menu.
