System requirements are a lie.
CPU: i5-9300H.
GPU: GTX 1650.
RAM: 16GB DDR4

My specs are well above the recommended system requirements, yet I experience slowdowns and fps drops even with a small base and when there are no enemies present.

Game runs at 120fps during GPU benchmark but at 30fps during CPU benchmark, so it's clearly a CPU-related problem.

The devs claim that this can run smoothly on a 2nd gen i7...

Are the devs working on optimising the game?

Our minimum spec machine that we test on at the office is an i5 2500k and we can get satisfactory performance out of that. Are you sure that you're not running any resource-heavy background programs?

yeah its a ´lie´. it runs absolutely smooth on extreme on my 10 year old PC.

No background programs.

I'm at the part in the campaign where you go to the Stregaros area, so as you can imagine my base isn't very big. I haven't explored all of the headquarters map and I've built small mining outposts on only half of the resource patches. I haven't built any radars.

I've tried setting the graphics and resolution to minimum but the problem persists so I think it's CPU-related.

I've noticed my CPU usage never goes above 50% even in big fights despite being set to use all 4 cores.

I really enjoyed the game but it's unplayable now. Have you any suggestions?

Disable gaming mode in Windows and clean the cooling vent from your notebook

Your laptop might be thermal throttling. Might want to invest in a cooling pad, they can change your laptop's performance significantly.

Define: Satisfactory performance?
For some console gaming standard, thats stable at >20 and >25 FPS, so.

Already tried that and I cleaned my laptop inside and out recently. CPU is operating at expected temperature so dust isn't a problem but thank you.

CPU temperature is well within the expected range and the fan has been louder in the past with other games. I don't think temperature is the issue.

I've submitted an official support request so hopefully we can resolve the issue now.

Can also be something in windows or some other software taking up power that the game can use.
I am running a 1050ti, and a worse cpu, and even if i have not messd with my settings at all, i am running "fine".
Ofc i do not expect it to run at 120 at all times, heck i dunno exactly what frames i get, but i can say it runs pretty smooth even with screen coverd by buggs.

Fiddle with the settings, make sure what you value is priod, be it frames resolution or things like eye candy.

Can try to actually upp the stuff for the gpu, so it is running at more max, instead of the cpu, some games are weird like that, no idea how this game handles it tho.

If you have problems, it can ofc be a pain to figure out, but most times one can get a game running acceptable, if not well.

Could check resource monitor in windows to see how much "per core" use your getting, If the game is working correctly you should see fairly high usage across all cores.

CPU temperature is well within the expected range and the fan has been louder in the past with other games. I don't think temperature is the issue.

Newer intel cpu's don't tend to overheat with stock settings, they just drop to the base clock under heavy load.

This will effect game performance and laptop gaming performance can vary greatly between different chassis types.

It might be helpful to note your cpu's clock speed when playing the game (or you could try running prime 95 burn test).

If the Cpu is throttling to keep the temps under control and then windows (or another program) starts doing something in the background this "may" be pushing the cpu over the edge, but there is also a chance there is some sort of rare bug or software conflict that is stopping the game fully utilising your cpu.

Either way the more information you can find the easier it will be for the devs to help you.
