Is it a solo only arpg/survival/rts or will we have minions?
Just wondering if it is only the mech suit to use or if other humans/mech suits can be rifted in as well. I am an arpg fan that loves AI minions. Hoping this has that as well. Or drones that hover nearby and add utility or attack support.

Right now it's single player only. There might be drones or other AI controlled constructs.

with the RTS genre dying being able to control armies etc would be nice. Maybe possibly have the ability to control maybe enemy hives/nests? to mix it up on how we can defend ourselves

There's a surprisingly large number of people asking about similar features. We're hearing you. We'll think about this.

Check out infested planet for some ideas, they really nailed the hive formula with mutagens, variety of units, power-ups, special abilities, etc.

Yes, I played it a bit. Good game indeed :)

I would love an RTS from you guys but don't less be it. But the amazing engine you've made really derserves an RTS. I've been thinking it ever since I played X-morph.

I would not. RTS is a different genre, requirest the entirely different mindset. Way too many games do the RTS part and it's not good despite a LOT of effort and doing everything "right".

There is Spellforce (3) which is basically dedicated RTS engine with full set of features but it still isn't exactly good (the heroes, the writing and everything else is great, just the RTS part is not "it", thankful fully avoidable).

There was Dragon Commander which again, did the RTS part technicaly well but otherwise it destroyed the good "Dragon" game.

On the other hand EXOR games are really great with top-down single-unit games with great, fluid (and simple) controls and splashing tons of little enemies with a lot of debris flying around. I would stick to that.

And simple Shadowgrounds type of game sounds great as it is. With some collecting, upgrading, some home base building and maybe some AI drone companion.

But just because they've modelled tanks that trigger some nostalgic C&C memory :) don't be fooled RTS can blend with other genres well. Just the camera and unit control requirements are so different to even begin with (try SF3 to see how bad it becomes when you need different control/camera settings for group of units control and different to control your heroes in RPG style because one it unusable for the other, and same was the Dragon Commander).

I agree with Elenoe. This game seems so fun with towers and the main mech controlled. I also dont mind some AI controlled drone to help but managing units, groups is totaly different and it realy not needed here.

Yes, a "traditional" RTS game is something much different and requires a different design approach. We actually evaluated making an RTS follow-up to X-Morph, but The Riftbreaker's concept won in the end :)

I don't know about other really controllable units but having some ai units running around your base would be cool. Oh, what about a customizable drone that does its own thing, like defending your base or doing repairs or something while you are out and about. Like you can only give it broad orders, such as repair, defend or harass. Something like that so it mainly does house keeping to take some of that off of you.

Or if you wanted to take it even further, give a cloning building that can make friendly versions of the enemies who will run around defending you.

The trailer reminds me of jurassic park/alien map from Warcraft 3

I think a barracks would be useful and have a resource pull, and haev it build sentinent robots to defend an area controllable by clicking where, or have a passive option to auto deploy in spots that are attacked
