Challenge?

I don't get what the challenge of the game is.
If I just keep making three-in-a-rows, I then get to the next level.
But then what...? Just more three-in-a-rows?
Doesn't even seem to be a timelimit or anything...

at first i though it was that also but been playing for 5 years now! a-haaaaa, try to finish 100% of quest mode which is a mix of 8 different sub-games (butterfly, storm, quest, lighting, poker, gold rush, bomb) so its not just 3-in-a-row style only, but indeed a well evolved mix of varieties of that common one! --> you can made 4-in-a-row and 5-in-a-row or better yet, the mother of all combos sort of 3x3 golden cube. try to beat the scores first, then earn the 3 level medals.

Yes quest mode can be a PITA. when I start a new game, I get it done 1st. but not in 1 sitting. the game tends to allow higher score's soon after a level up and drag's you down as you edge close to the next level up. reset the game mode from time to time. it does not effect scoring. I've hit as high as 1.8 mil score's. but there far n few these days and i'm a level 53.

The issue that you have with a lot of the quests (and certainly the later ones) is the reliance on complete and utter dumb luck.

You could play several hours straight and not get anywhere. Then pickup the game the following week and nail a challenge in a few minutes. Gold Rush IV - I'm pointing directly at you here.

Literally round after round after round where the ONLY move I can make is by matching three irrelevant gems at the top of the board. Many rounds have run out of time where I've maybe removed one square of dirt at the bottom.

It's difficult to be 'fun' when the thing is just so bloody frustrating and beyond your control!
