Total War: THREE KINGDOMS

Taiwan and the AI
I have now noticed after a year of playing Total War Three Kingdoms that there is a problem with Taiwan. I have never had a faction settle in Taiwan. When I colonized Taiwan, factions took everything from me but never attacked me in Taiwan. The safest place for a capital with an imperial seat later is Taiwan because the opponents will never attack you. Taiwan is the safest place in the game because the AI will never attack it ... is that intentional or is it a mistake?

There's only one island with a settlement in the entire map.
Two islands. Shi Xie down in Hepu often goes and colonises the Lumber Yard there if you give him long enough to do so. But Yizhou Island is always available for the player, it would seem.

Are you trying to be a political troll?
Why should I try to be a political troll?

The AI may not be programmed to deal with islands.

Isn't Hainan a Island ?
The attack me there
There's only one island with a settlement in the entire map.
This is actually something I abuse a lot if I find my current start position to be awful. I migrate to Taiwan and the AI never bothers with my new capital while I can freely raid their shores.

The one time I tried to migrate to Taiwan the AI chased me there with multiple armies. Since the place starts out uncolonized and the settlements are too far apart for my one army to defend them it went poorly for me.

I have seen the AI colonize it once, though they were a large kingdom mostly at peace when they finally got around to it.

Yizhou islands is probably the safest place to build up ur base, in my 1000 hours of playing this game i have never seen anyone occupy it nor attacking, AI simply doesnt care or think its important enough.
I think it depends on the difficulty you are playing on. Legendary the AI will literally come at you from the opposite end of the map, no matter how far away you are. Nowhere is safe in that case. I understand that they don't do that on the more reasonable difficulties.
Cao Cao, I think Taiwan or Formosa in this game is unconquerable! Just like in real life! Everyone who retreats to Taiwan creates an impregnable fortress!

Or just Accept that near the end game, the AI will not attack your location if you have a stronger army nearby or you have one of your army's threatening one of it's territories elsewhere. Similarly if another AI has an army near by, the enemy will not attack an undefended land.

So I think Taiwan is not unique. It just so happen that there are other threats that will hinder the AI from stretching itself thin.
Hmm, I just had the idea of starting as Zhang Jiang when she has no starting holdings and running there and setting up my base of operation.
Whats the name of Hong Kongs commaderie.
