Rapid repeating pistol... Anyone tried?

2AP weapon but 1-5 damage, no crit mod, optimal range 4, handling -1, 10 ammo clip.

In terms of damage, Bulldog is 7-10 and Vigilante is 7-8 under 4AP. All of them have -1 handling.

I thinkt RRP might be better than Vigilante. But damage range is too wide. If I shot 4 times, it could do 4~20 damage.

Anyone tried this weapon? With high firearm skill and perks for damage or crit, RRP might be a good one.

Never used it but I can make some guesses. Maximum range should be considered, A listed value of "0" means that it can hit reasonably well at any range (except point blank, which I assume is one hex away) as long as firearms skill is high enough.

With AP 8 or 9 and snap shot, you could, in theory, attack 8 or 9 times per round (i.e. 8-40 damage per round or 9 to 45) but you'd have to be very patient to keep on using the radial menu each time to activate the ability. If you get a high reaction roll, you could even empty the entire magazine in the same round. You would need a lot of 0.22 cal rounds, which isn't much of an issue by the second half of the game.

If you don't use snap shot, it's outperformed by the Bulldog. Even though its description states that it is short ranged, the Bulldog also has a maximum range of 0, which means that it can actually hit pretty well at long range (if you have good firearms skills and a recoil compensator).

Bulldog (without snap shot), damage/turn 14-20
Bulldog (with snap shot), damage/turn 21-30

There's no reason to buy the Vigilante if you have the Bulldog. Contrary to the description, Vigilante has the same handling as the Bulldog (-1), so it's not necessarily more accurate. My last character had AP 9, Firearms 8, Snap shot, and a recoil compensator, leading to ranged skill of 17. By the endgame, I was hitting Mi-go clear across the screen with 3 shots from a Bulldog, most of which were for 9 to 10 pts of damage (high skill seems to increase the chance that you will do max damage, as I almost never saw my shots do less than 9 or 10 pts). With criticals, the target goes down in one round.

I assume that, if your firearm skills is high enough, most of your snap shots with a repeating pistol will be close to 4 o 5 pts of damage, so the damage output per round may be less variable than one might think. But selecting the snap shot ability 8 to 9 times a turn could drive you crazy.

I tested it and I subscribe to everything said by Ninth Hour. It's the most powerful range weapon, because with snap shot you can attack for 1 ap. But it consumes a lot of .22 and your turns are never ending (10-12 attacks with radial menu).
Thanks for the idea guys. I think the only limitation is the skill level.

My current character is researcher, put decent amount of skill points for medicine and science, only 2 in firearm. I don't have snapshot, and I think I wouldn't have chance to earn one more level at this stage. I'm lvl 7 and late game stage, but not sure how much I can get XPs. As a science/medicine main character, amount of firearm will be limited and not sure if that character can utilize the maximum potential of repeater. Even with snapshot, low firearm skill level (less or equal to 3) might hinder the damage potential due to too much scratch or miss shots.

I think there might be "Repeater build" only for this weapon, as academic or aristocrat character, like find the best ratio of science / firearm.

One other possibility is Sonia. Sonia doesn't have snapshot but she has trick shot which I think really good too. With 2AP + 2AP with trick shot, she can use 2 trickshot per one turn. In damage wise Bulldog might be better but trick shot has a chance to blind enemy, which is good nerf skill I guess. Might worth for Sonia.

If play as aristocrat, butler guy would be a good choice too but I never experienced aristocrat and butler before so not sure if this is feasible choice.

Speaking of Vigilante, I guess it is still good for low firearm character due to more optimal range. Scientists or Occultists or any non-firearm character might get a little bit of benefit to reduce miss shot or scratch shot (1~2 damage shots) Plus, it is kinda RP to me. When I find Liberty, I always combo Liberty with Vigilante especially when I kill mobs for lady Besty :)
