The Sleeper Beneath
So twice now I've gotten to the point of killing the enemies and making it to the big dirt pile. First time I managed to dig once and then dropped my spade (which I could not pick back up again no matter what I did) meaning I had to restart. Now, the second time, my character will just not dig at all. No reason why, I'm not suffering any negative affects. I click dig, click on the pile and nothing.

Please god someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying very hard to enjoy this game and it feels like it's trying very hard to not let me do that.

In order to ensure your character has minimal issues, take some cocaine/opium at the start of the fight. You need panic immunity to withstand the Sleeper's attack. Stand on a green tile, switch to shovel, radial menu "Dig".

By the way be sure to click on the mound and not the tile.

I've done all of the above. I'm literally stood on the shovel tile, shovel in hand with the shovel icon but when I click on the sleeper nothing happens. I also cannot now move my character for some reason. I can defend/focus and use items but nothing else. Close to giving up with this game.

You may need to reload to a slightly earlier save, otherwise:

(1) If you dropped shovel and picked it up into inventory, you may need to open inventory in combat and re-equip it.

(2) If you have the Outsider as a companion, the Spit spell can damage the Sleeper Beneath while it's buried (unless changed by patch). You can target the bottom right hex of the Sleeper model. With upgraded Spit you should be able to kill the Sleeper in 3 turns.

If this is correct, then are you using the radial menu (right click), selecting use item/combat action, and clicking shovel then clicking on the green tile with the shovel icon?

If you have shovel equipped and simply left click the shovel tile, nothing will happen.

Yep, I'm not making some silly mistake here. I have the shovel equipped. I'm also using the radial menu to select the action that lets me dig. I'm not just hitting the pile with the shovel and I have targeted both the green shovel tile and the Sleeper itself to no avail.

Managed to kill it via the spit spell. Would recommend to anyone to just do this, do not waste your time with the shovel. Thanks to the above for the help.

In that case:

(1) Might have to quit out of the client and reload a save from before you enter the Sleeper area, or;

(2) If you have the Outsider as a companion, the Spit spell can damage the Sleeper Beneath while it's buried (unless changed by patch). You can target the bottom right hex of the Sleeper model. With upgraded Spit you should be able to kill the Sleeper in 3 turns (PC can damage with Spit spell as well if your PC is an occultist)

(3) I tried to use bombs/molotovs during the fight, but that resulted in the game hanging/freezing, so unless that has been hotfixed or patched, the Spit spell is the only damage AOE that will hurt the Sleeper without you digging.

I understand your first point, but it can be a lengthy fight, are you supposed to just quit our every time it doesn't work? It takes more than one attempt to dig up the sleeper for example I managed to dig once and then was unable to again. Quitting and restarting isn't a great fix. God help anyone without an occultist. This is a really terrible problem in an otherwise good game.

It depends on your AP. With amphetamines/ferocity and high reaction AP build I dug out the sleeper in one turn. Granted this is with a fully optimised build.

Relies heavily on the ability to dig at all.

I'll be honest, I had to reload the Sleeper fight 15 + / - times. There seem to be issues in particular with that fight for whatever reason (the way combat animations work?).

The best way to fix it was to quit fully and reload from immediately before I entered the Sleeper's area. Saved me further pain. I also avoided things that seemed to cause the issue such as throwing bombs at the Sleeper.

If in doubt, Spit spell will finish the fight painlessly for you in 3 turns once you kill the denizens guarding the Sleeper.

Hopefully they fix some of the problems around that fight in the next patch.

The Sleeper Beneath will be among our combat priorities yuri.

Would you be so kind to produce and send us the log exports that register the problems you've been having? For us, it's a vital element of the process involving bug fixes and minor design refactoring. Please follow these steps:

1. Hit the console button (the one under Escape: "/é)
2. Type "exportlog" without the quote marks. This should generate a log folder on the desktop.
3. Compress this folder and send it to culticgames@gmail.com

Thanks in advance

Hello people.

I've been informed by our programmers that the issue regarding The Sleeper Beneath digging bug have possibly been fixed now. Our testers who strenuously pressed the issue, which is of the most common and recurrent of all reported bugs, have not encountered this issue in the last test build. Though it appears to have been resolved, further tests will verify that claim. Should one encounter this situation again in the next patch, he or she is advised to report back. Thank you all for your contributions in tackling this crucial matter.
