Crisanta kinda ruined the game for me
Not only because her voice acting is so incredibly bad and feels extremely out of place but also because fighting her is the most annoying bullsh*t ever. I really hope Crisanta gets a workover in future updates because in her current state she is a real stain for this game.

I died to this ♥♥♥♥♥ FOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times, And that was WITH the Pelican Effigy. XD

The 5th time, I found a window of opportunity after her charge attacks and then she tried plummeting from the sides to the middle. I would then wail on her with my divine wrath as she tried to ninja flip in my direction. (Air Impulse + Soleá of Excommunication, saved my a.s.s)

*Whiny Rage Subdued*

So in terms of a challenge, she's more or less fulfilled that.
(Though she did lag the game with her parrys...)

HOWEVER!!!

Her voice acting, IS BAD. or at most.....it's just..... ok

For the record, I don't mean to ♥♥♥♥ on the voice actress, but I feel Crisanta could have been performed better.

And here's why:
(PREPARE YOUR BUTTS FOR SOME PARAGRAPHS AND BAD GRAMMAR)

The voice acting in this game is PHENOMINAL, at least IMO.
Every single character that I've heard thus far gives the game and the setting at large, life.
I can't explain it any better than the fact that the voices in this game are PERFECT for Cvstodia and those that reside within her walls.

All except for one.....

When I first heard her voice, when those first few words left her sweet sweet lips,
I was disappointed.

Here was the main villain's right hand, and she doesn't even sound like one. Her voice doesn't FIT HER the role she plays. She lacks the charisma that you would expect from a knight. Especially one that's supposed to protect the friggin pope.

So here you come face to face with your opposite, like Link vs Dark Link. You are "the iron without a voice, while she is gold without a glance" (this was from the comic btw). She is the light to your encroaching shadow. The dam to your inevitable flood.....

AND SHE SOUNDS LIKE THAT?!?!
THAT'S THE VOICE OF MY ADVERSARY?!?
THE PROTECTOR OF THE INNER SANCTUM?!?

WHY I FEEL SO INSULTED!!!!
HAVE AT THEE YA BLIND B.I.T.C.H!!!!

( Ok, NOW my whiny rage is done )
( Also I was being facetious :P )

T.L.D.R. and Conclusion

She looks like a badass, but she doesn't SOUND like one. And when I heard her first lines, I literally stared at the screen for five minutes going, WTF?!? I'm supposed to fight her??
....Is this really the bodyguard of the BBEG?!?

This isn't a case of don't judge a book by it's cover. This is a case of first impressions, and this first impression (at least for me) was, DISAPPOINTING

Especially when compared to the other characters in the game.

End of T.L.D.R.

[ Again I'm not trying to thoroughly ♥♥♥♥ on the voice actress, I'm sure that she tried, but not all of us are good at everything. Hopefully she'll do better the next time around, but this "performance" could have been better. And if you're reading this, I hope you prove me wrong and blow my mind away, someday ;) ]

This is the why, that some of you wanted. The voice isn't as bad compared to these. Not by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ longshot, but it is wanting. It hardly breaks the game, but I can see why some people are turned off by it. Hopefully this will shed some light on OP's topic.

Other than that, the game is amazing. (or at least I'm enjoying it ;D )

To be honest I loved her fight, but didn't really pay too much attention to the voice acting I'll have to play again and pay more attention. It was one of the more engaging fights and the one that made me use parry the most. Obviously she's gonna be in the sequel so maybe she's gonna get some kind of rework.

I was feeling the same way until I figured out the patterns.

If she goes into parry, wait for her to attack and then parry her. Sometimes you get the riposte, sometimes she's too far away. In those cases, you might be able to hit her with a slide attack.

Is she parries you, slide away or try to parry the riposte.

Try to keep her cornered so that she doesn't do the dive attack. If she does, you can land a few hits on her afterward.

Oftentimes, if you just do slash, slash, slash, parry, that will be good timing to counter her, and you can sometimes get into a cycle of this for a while.

Anyway, that's what worked for me.

oktchau 6 ENE 2020 a las 12:32 p. m.
I still think she's easy to beat. Just don't be greed trying to attack her in every opportunity.
There's no time limit so you can even beat her using only counter attacks.

If anyone is having trouble, try this:
1) Equip the Heart of Virtuous Pain (longer block/parry stance)
2) Equip the Pelican Effigy (invincible when flasking), Knot of Hair (more power), Red Wax (more life) and Ember of the Holy Cremation (defense boost) beads.
3) Just focus on blocking ALL her attacks. They are extremely telegraphed so you have a lot of time to block them. Don't even bother jumping or dodging, just block everything.
4) Once you learn how easy is to block all her attacks and learn when you can safely counter (her two-combo standing slashes are the easiest ones) it shold be just an exercise of patience.

Even when she parries you or when you miss your riposte you still have time to block her next attack.

Hmm I guess I should give my take on that boss, to me cristina was a hard boss. Would I say she’s Bs no, I’ve fought Bs fights and cristina isn’t that hard if you go in with a clear head and proper equipment. She feels more like that you’re not ready boss telling you that your under leveled and that you should power up more. Given how I didn’t want to backtrack the game to get in her level I elected to cheese her and here’s how.
First get high MP, high MP is needed.
Second make sure to get Tiento to your Thorned hairs.
Third use shrine to max out MP and heal.
Fourth and finally bludgeon her with your holy fury.:steamhappy:

Also her voice didn’t register to me as bad, so like no opinion there. I feel like people saying a voice actors bad is being overly nitpicky since I can only consider a voice actor bad if I can’t understand a word their saying. Cristina spoke clearly enough for me to understand and I saw no issue with her pacing or punctuation.

A little off topic but does anyone know how to get MP more efficiently. I hate having to stab myself over and over again just to get more. Attacking gets you near nothing.

She sounds like a needy whiny highschooler so slaying her was more pleasurable then the others :footprint:
MrGalactus 11 ENE 2020 a las 5:50 p. m.
It was the stupiest fight in this game. So riddled with bug and the walk to the boss was straight unpleasant. The boss kept managing to teleport herself out of the screen making her impossible to attack and then she'd get stuck for MINUTES then teleport and just kill me out of nowhere.
BurgerVault 11 ENE 2020 a las 8:13 p. m.
I enjoyed the fight, didn't enjoy the elevator ride to it. Very like Dark Souls to save elevator positions between deaths. Except in Dark Souls you can send the elevator back down before dying. This is the only time Blasphemous is a less forgiving game.

The worse part of her voice is you have to listen to it everytime. Once is probably enough. I didn't hate it though. She sounds very young and immature which seems like an odd choice. I can't judge if it's a good portrayal of the character though because I don't know who this character is. She shows up out of nowhere seconds before the curtain closes.

That's also something I don't like. You play through the game and every single boss gets foreshadowed by items or dialogue, but not her. She appears literally out of nowhere and talks like an important character and a well known enemy to you. Yet, up until this point, you haven't seen, read or heard anything of her. The first time I genuinely thought I missed some encounters with her the way she's speaking (kinda like when my siblings play games, skip every cutscene and are then surprised by the boss they have to fight because they haven't seen them before at all).

Esdras' foreshadowing was great; we saw him, heard him talk and found items related to the legion before the actual fight. The "sudden" encounter at the bridge was just amazing, especially because he didn't ramble about anything and instead slams his weapon on the ground like "you shall not pass" and immediately starts the fight because he doesn't want the Penitent One to get through the gate and sees no need to lecture him.

I kinda like it. Makes her seem like an ignorant, blind follower, metaphorically and literally.

Her voice is jarring because she has no accent.

The fight is easy, just parry. It's a parry fight. Use Tiento to Your Thorned Hairs if you're having problems.

This game suffers from an acute case if horrible bosses. That and a really underwhelming move set that makes you wish you were playing something else.
Exposito and Crisanta are terrible. You spend more time walking back to Crisanta than dying trying to learn her patterns in the actual fight. Not that it matters much, because she has screen wide attacks with really unnatural timing that really screws up. And don't even get me started on Exposito. He's the one you just divebomb and hope he dies before you.

I think they might have meant for her to sound young and immature.
Cavou 27 ENE 2020 a las 2:51 p. m.
I think her voice acting suited her considering, as others have pointed out, she's meant to be young, immature and thus easily brainwashed into blind faith and loyalty toward Escribar, even once things have reached the state they are in during the events of Blasphemous.
I also really enjoyed the gameplay of the fight. I really enjoy duel fights with enemies that have similar skills to the player. As such I found it to be a very fair battle. I think I only died once or twice to her before figuring her out and defeating her.
Smoke 27 ENE 2020 a las 3:53 p. m.
I think her voice acting wouldn't be so much of a issue for so many if we didn't have to hear her unskippable introduction every time we fought her.

Eh, the ugly lady with laser hands was a ♥♥♥♥♥ for me, same for the skeleton, and the baby. That’s mostly cause they such a ♥♥♥♥♥ to kill, like I know it’s possible with spells but I try not to be overly reliant on them.

Cristina didn’t get any foreshadowing because she isn’t like every other boss who has been blessed by the miracle she’s like Esdras and his sister. They both kinda just show up with no explanation or foreshadowing, even less so for the sister. All the other bosses pleaded for the miracle and the miracle delivered, which is why there’s foreshadowing for them, they’re basically holy figures of divine importance.

Also I still don’t get what the issue was we understand what they were saying fine, the only prob I see everyone seems to complain about is the actors actual voice which is shallow as ♥♥♥♥.

This on the other hand I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ agree with, we should not have to hear the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ intro every damn time we get our ass spanked.
