Not smooth recording in OBS
I like to have OBS running with the replay buffer in case I get an AP so I can save it. This game seems to give me the most problems because sometimes it saves and the frame rate is a smooth 60 FPS and other times the enemies scrolling by looks jerky, even though the rest looks fine (like the bubbles in the health bar).

I just did a song and have it set to a 10 minute replay buffer. The attempt prior to and right after my successful AP recorded smoothly, but the one where I actually did it was jerky. All part of the same recording file so I don't understand why just the one part was off since the settings are the same. Anyone know what is going on here? It's like it randomly decides the frame rate is going to be a little off sometimes when it loads the stage even though it looks fine to me as I play it. I had to record one song 3 times to get a smooth recording and with some of the higher star ones doing it multiple times isn't feasible.

Replay takes up a lot more processing power than just recording. The way I do it is that I just hit record whenever I start a song and stop recording a song when I finish it. Just toss everything you dont need immediately.

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought one method over the other was more resource intensive. I recorded about 45 minutes of it today, so maybe 15 runs of a song, and all but one were smooth. Even the jerky one wasn't as bad as it usually is. Though I did see in the Advanced settings tab a way to set OBS priority to Above Normal or High to give it more power that it needs, so I set it to High.

I read one post where the guy was saying on some games while it's loading a stage it's drawing on more CPU power and taking available resources away from OBS, leaving it to run poorly. That would make sense from what I've seen of this game, where it's smooth one run, loads the stage again and FPS is off, then on the next load it's fine again. I'll keep trying this record method instead of using replay buffers because I don't play for long sessions so they both use almost the same GBs anyway. Thanks.
