Muse Dash

Custom Songs?
Is there a chance in the near future for the ability to make custom songs to be played via Steam Workshop? I personally hope so. This game has the potential for that sort of thing...

And I can already imagine what kinds of songs some of the community might make as playable songs in the game...

Yeah I really hope so too.
Like Osu! and Intralism, they have their own community making songs and it would be cool to allow you to make your own songs with enemies/bosses within Muse Dash.

But, hey perhaps they might make one, one day.

as i said on another thread, it’s doubtful because of licensing problems since these games have to get the legal rights to the songs.

preemptive edit before someone says “but osu has custom songs so why can’t this also have?”: although working on licensing many songs, osu operates on the basis that the mapper has the rights to the songs, so it’s in a gray area in which it’s solely a host to the mp3 file along with the game’s own files. muse dash isn’t in this area because it licenses the songs that are used, as far as i’m aware. think of it like Arcaea, Cytus, VOEZ, SDVX etc.

This ^^
If muse dash ever gets any custom songs it will be done by moding/replaceing existing songs with custom ones. This is certanly possible and will probably be combated by the devs.

Then, what about custom characters? Blockstorm and Guacamelee! STCE have them.

If Osu and Intralism did it then I can't see why Muse Dash can't...

Osu is bordering on illegality.

Anyway, don't count on it.

You know you're not making any sense whatsoever right?

If that's true then why isn't OSU! shut down yet? And why hasn't there been any lawsuits?
if it's illegal shouldn't the developer been going jail and yet the game has been receiving updates and changes for 12 years now.
And...
It's not been shut down by DMCA yet...
What is your logic with that?
If it's illegal shouldn't all pattern rhythm games be shut down?

If OSU is illegal then so as YouTube...

Intralism is another pattern rhythm game that allows users to freely upload custom songs to its workshop and it's not gotten in any legal troubles...
Do you know anything about copyright?

They dont have leagel troubles cause they have walled them selfs off from the modders.
Same thing with osu. All they have to say is: Hey we just make the software we cant stop people form making custom beatmaps. Muse Dash could open up a workshop and allow custom songs but its much safer for them not to do so and they wouldn't be able to charge money for dlc songs if every one could just download them for free. Custom beatmaps will happen its just the mater of time before someone figures out how to edit the game files.

did you read my reply lol, they just act as content hosts and if a DMCA claim is filed they immediately remove any download sources that they can (aside from 3rd parties)

don’t be dumb, osu! has received a multitude of takedown notices. they comply with every single one because they state in the TOS that they’re only acting as a content host while the player who created the maps should have all legal responsibilities. if osu! doesn’t comply, the creator of the game gets sued, simple as that.

and youtube operates in the same basis, only acting as a host while the uploader is the one who should have the legal rights to the song.

i repeat, don’t be dumb.

I think you missed the "bordering" part. But hey, do you?

It's ironic how you call me dumb when you are the ignorant one.
The songs on Osu! are under fair use, therefore, it's not copyright at all.
Come back when you actually understand what the term 'fair use' even means.
I am honestly thinking you're trolling.
You simply can't say something this dumb, ridiculous and ignorant.

I repeat, don't be this stupid.
And research.

Most of the songs on osu are not under """fair use""" because they're using the whole song unedited. The average player can just illegally download some copyrighted mp3 from piratebay, make an osu chart of it, and upload it for others to download.
Also just like what the others tried to tell you, osu has received multiple takedown notices. One of them that I know of is from konami: https://gist.github.com/peppy/99e6959772083cdfde8a
I'm sorry but you should take off your osu fanboy glasses and do more research.
